Mouth of River LOADED with Speckled Trout!

The Mississippi River fell below 5 feet at the New Orleans gauge 6 months ago, and it's never climbed over it since. That means the river itself down at the delta is full of green, salty water that couldn't possibly hold another speckled trout.
This week, my good buddy Justin Bowles and I headed to down to the southern tip of Plaquemines Parish to get in on the fun. Check out the video for all the details!

Loved the video again! I went down to Leeville bank fishing and braved the 25mph wind out the north today 12/6/23. All my usual spots were high and dry. Almost no water in the ponds and Bayous. I started at 9:30am (had to drop the kiddo off at school) and fished until 4. I caught 3 Keeper reds which would have been 5 had I checked my leader material for cuts.. grrrr, and 1 Nice gator trout that I must have landed on his head. All in all it was a nice relaxing day and I have some meat in the fridge. That Avid 20 XB with the 3 row seats is looking like my choice. I hope to be off the bank next year ;). Absolutely hammered them 2 weeks ago during a hunting trip. Like perch jerking but with 17+ inch trout!

Mr. Todd u need to do like me and carry you an old window weight . I drop it in the back and then you can move your boat side ways and spot lock the trolling motor works well. I learned that from the Crappie psychic captain Clyde Folse

Anyone who's fished a while has been on both sides of that equation. Justin is one of the best fishermen I know. It was fun to give him hell, and he took it all in stride. Believe me, one day he'll return the favor 🤣

Nah, wasn't his fault. He had nowhere else to go. Just bad luck for us, but it really didn't matter. The fishing down there is so good everywhere right now. Be on the lookout for the second part of the day, which will be in the next video. We caught really nice trout every cast in the river itself.

I always use 1/16 under a cork because I want the lure falling slowly to resemble a shrimp.
