How explosions are created for film with an emphasis on the 1993 adaptation of Stephen King's Needful Things.
Documentary series dealing with every aspect of special effects in movies, from low-budget make-up to multi-million-dollar computer-generated graphics. The clear presentation includes descriptions of the creation and technical problems of the effects, and interviews with effects technicians, directors, stars and other crew. Each episode deals with one topic, effect or technician (eg theme park rides, CGI, Stan Winston), concentrating on one or more current or recent films.

Part of that is making sure the model breaks apart and fragments realistically, not so much the explosion itself. The various Movie Magic episodes on miniatures cover some of that-things like concrete barriers and buildings are made up of loose chunks, spaceship models are designed to separate in certain areas where a stock plastic model wouldn't, miniature trains are made of proportionately thinner metal so they crumple convincingly, etc.

@@SpaceManRD ok… but I was only referring to the fireball for miniatures…. mentioned in the „ cliffhangee“ episode for example. I know it is a „ dangerous“ topic but making „ small“ flames for scale 1:64 or 1:72 is tricky

None, really. The scale is way too small for any practical pyro to look convincing. You'll have to accept that(the "Gerry Anderson mentality" - not realistic, but fun) or go with larger scale models. All you can do is adding material like cork flakes and fuller's earth for a bit of scale and petroleum jelly and hydrogen peroxide to your charges to break up flames further and getting better looking color and thicker smoke. Please consult a professional pyrotechnician before trying anything dangerous by yourself.
