OK, I am a Christian evangelical and I find your videos spot on and hilarious. I can't stand so-called "Christian" movies any more than I cant stand Christian contemporary "pop". Good art should be better then swat to the face with a Jesus bat. Keep up the good work.

It's about time someone made fun of bad Christian movies. It puts us to shame. I will say that this movie's acting is a bit better than usual; these people obviously know what they're doing. But it definitely suffers from bad directing. This is really good, actually (the video, not the movie itself). One of the best internet reviews I've seen in a while. :) If you're taking requests, anything Psalty would be ideal for a video like this. God's Not Dead too because it's laughable how many breakup scenes are in that movie and how over the top the "villain" is. But by far the crowning jewel in bizarre Christian entertainment is this little known movie called Newsboys Down Under the Big Top. Its sense of humor is strange and some of the jokes are only funny because they're so out there or over the top you can't help but laugh. Plenty of material!

I laughed more at this than at any of NC's last few months of videos. This was great.

Went back to this movie 6 years later (I left a comment on this video back then and even got a response you can look at if you scroll a bit) because of all the craziness in 2020. I have to say, the directing is all over the place, but man, this movie holds up. The actor who plays Carpathia in particular nails it. I was really enjoying his performance because he was subtle, not over the top. Comparing it to most of the recent Christian movies puts them to shame. I wish the Christian movie industry had seen this as an example to build off of when moving forward with its movies because what started here was good and improving on its drawbacks while keeping the things that make this movie good would have resulted in solidly good Christian movies. I think pride poisoned the Christian film industry. The directors and writers thought they could write a cheesy, preachy message that made non-Christians look like idiots or Marvel villains instead of taking from this film and seeing that hypocrisy in the church does turn people away and that people who aren't saved can still be, for the lack of a better term, good people. We don't look down on these characters for not knowing better. I mean the Buck character clearly knows nothing about Christianity and even when he rejects it initially, he respects the opinions of people around him and acknowledges that there are some things to consider. His come-to-Jesus moment doesn't come from emotion, it comes from him finally realizing that it's true and he's actually a bit scared to reject it. We don't even see much change in his personality. In contrast, people who have their come-to-Jesus moment in other Christian movies might as well be totally different characters. Chloe, as well, has a good heart and cares about the people around her before her come-to-Jesus moment, and she even admonishes her father for not showing at least a surface level interest in her mother's faith. And yes, there's more explaining than necessary, but even that isn't too terribly detracting. As a film, it's middle of the road. Some of the directing is really hokey, particularly at the beginning. It has some good, emotional moments in it. It feels more real than most Christian movies. The acting's pretty solid. No one's Oscar quality, but there are some really good performances from several actors and the others who aren't as good were still competent and they weren't distracting. As a Christian movie, it's astounding. As a movie, it's okay. It's one of the very few Christian movies I'm not embarrassed to admit that I kinda like.

I'm not a Christian and I just bought this film and the sequel, "Tribulation Force", on special at my local movie store after watching the review of the Cage version. I thought the opening Israel-invasion scene was under-explained and non-sensical, but otherwise the rest of the film was pretty decent. Not an Oscar nominee by any measure but as far as Christian films go, it's definately one of the best ones out there. Also, the reverend's speech in the church was one of my all-time favourite movie scenes ever.

He has a tattoo on his "left behind." Hey that's the name of the movie!

This is possibly the best parody I've ever seen. Love the nostalgia critic and now I love the nostalgia christian! I know this probably takes a butt load of work but PLEASE MAKE MORE!

Nice video, I always saw the books and this movie in my church library when I was younger and they kinda spooked me out due to premise but found myself engaged enough here to consider watching the original movie when I get a chance. Would like to see you do Passion of The Christ.

My grandparents (Baptists born in the 1750s) forced me to watch this movie with them when I made my first (and last) impromptu Holiday visit as an adult to their home in Michigan. I actually held my breath in an attempt to blackout. At the end though I shrugged and came to pretty much the same conclusion; hardly a masterpiece but no worse than some of the crap I watch on Netflix. Hell, better than most of the Asylum films in my opinion... and definitely superior to the discussion my grandparents wanted to have after we watched it. Their big take away was basically that people shouldn't masturbate. Anyway, awesome review. I don't understand why this doesn't have have a billion views. Keep up the god work.
