As he works his way toward the extraction zone, Chris (Owen Wilson) must maneuver his way through a minefield.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
A television commercial for a Sega game system that aired during the 1999 MTV Music Video Awards landed debut director John Moore a gig behind the camera of this military action thriller. Owen Wilson stars as Lt. Chris Burnett, a naval aviator aboard the U.S.S. Carl Vinson who's frustrated with the strict "hands-off" political policies that prevent him from experiencing combat against hostile Bosnian forces in his F/A-18 Superhornet jet. Burnett's commander, Admiral Reigert (Gene Hackman), thinks that the brash pilot doesn't have what it takes to be in the millitary, but the eager young officer soon gets the chance to prove his mettle. While conducting a routine photographic reconnaissance over a remote area of the Balkans, Burnett captures grisly images that serve as proof of genocidal crimes, but his plane is blown out of the sky. He's soon pursued on the ground by the forces of Lokar (Olek Krupa), a Serbian paramilitary leader intent on covering up unthinkable crimes, while Reigert defies the NATO orders of his superior (Joaquim de Almeida) and risks his career to mount a covert rescue mission. Behind Enemy Lines (2001), the first of two back-to-back releases starring Wilson and Hackman (the other being The Royal Tenenbaums), also stars David Keith, Gabriel Macht, and Charles Malik Whitfield.

but who stepped on the trip wire.. was the guy who was about to fire or the guy running? bcs why would he step on the wire ...or if the guy running did it then how come he did not fly off but the guy who is firing and standing way far from the point where the runner stepped is blown away.. ? just asking.. but otherwise no flaw in direction at all..on spot..

Behind Enemy Lines is the definition of style over substance, but when it comes down it, being hella stylish goes a long way. The film oozes style, aesthetic. And I'm convinced so many filmmakers and game developers saw this movie and adopted its kinetic action style and post-processing for their own work.

It's not actually, look very closely at the dust cover and bolt of the rifle, they were using VZ-58's for some reason (maybe they were an easier to get prop gun, who knows)

VZ-58 is a Czechoslovak weapon and this movie was shot in Slovakia. Slovak army used them until recent years. And they're also pretty easy to find there so i guess that's the reason. From the perspective of the film makers the Ak 47 and Vz 58 and even the serbian M70 look the same, even though they are a lot different.

@@jozsimovcek30 They werent common in Yugoslavia at all. Yugoslav Zastava made their own rifles. Only a handfull of vz 58s were smuggled to Bosnia and Croatia during the war.

Those commenting on why he was not effected by the blasts? because Owen didn't set off any of the traps. When the first bomb got tripped it caused tht others to trip behind him which gave him a lead time ahead of the blast zones.

Just a nitpick, but Yugoslavia did produce its own weaponry. That being said, Serbia was under an arms embargo, so it was constrained from acquiring new guns.

Shannmeister it's a czech thing, the need to be as autonomous as possible. All vehicles were made in czechoslovakia on license, except for helis and jets, all weps were czechoslovak-designed and made except for rpg7 and SVD.

not AK... actually real true proper AKs are extremelly rare.. all you see in movies and newsrels are copies made all arround the world..but proper autenthic russian made AK47s.. quite rare

@@petarsekulic3079 Nope, thats vz58, but for some reason it has an AK underfolder stock. Probably because they wanted it to look like an AK. Vz58 never had an underfolding stock, only a sidefolding one.
