CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Outwitting a counterfeit group, Frank (Clint Eastwood) saves Agent D'Andrea (Dylan McDermott) while making a dramatic arrest.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Clint Eastwood delivers one of his finest performances, as a secret service agent haunted by his past in Wolfgang Petersen's taut thriller In the Line of Fire. Eastwood plays Frank Horrigan, a secret service agent who keeps thinking back to November 22, 1963, when, as an agent hand-picked by President Kennedy, he became one of the few agents to have lost a president to an assassin. Decades later, psychotic Mitch Leary (John Malkovich) is stalking another president (Jim Curley) running for re-election. He has spent long hours studying the psyche of Frank Horrigan, and he taunts Horrigan (feeling that there is a bond between them), telling him of his plans to kill the president. After his conversation with Leary, Horrigan makes sure he is assigned to presidential protection duty. Horrigan has no intention of failing his president this time around, and he is more than willing to take a bullet. But everything goes Leary's way -- he is smart and cagey and the president's aides refuse to alter the itinerary. As the election draws closer, Horrigan's chances to catch Leary look to be less and less a possibility, and he begins to doubt his own abilities -- both now and in the past, when Kennedy was murdered.

There are some Movies that will live in Hollywood lore throughout the end of time. This is surely one of them. The acting, writing, story line are all masterpieces. And it's one of those few movies that one can watch every year over and over again and never grow tired of. As someone who builds and molds props as a hobby, I just love the scene where John is making the epoxy composite gun. I've often wondered what he used because it had to be strong enough to withstand a chemical explosion and not blow apart.

@Monotech2.0 What shells did they show in that scene? Did they look like 380's ?. I personally use BJB TC-1630 for most of my molded bucks and can tell you that it sets like steel. I guess when Frank arrested him, Jigsaw had a lot of time on his hands to plan in the can. Then he gets out only to find out he has cancer from Dr. Gordon. No wonder he is so pissed off. Trivia bit: When the Secret Service was originally formed during Abraham Lincolns presidency, their sole responsibility was tracking down counterfeiters, which was a major problem during and after the civil war. (They were known as the 'secret service' because they were so covert that they didn't even carry any kind of identification.) It wasn't until after Lincoln's assassination that they were given the additional duties of protecting 'high profile' political targets and became less covert.

When this first came out, my Mum said, "What's Brian Barron doing on a film with Clint Eastwood?" In case you don't know, Brian Barron was a very fine BBC reporter who my Mum had a bit of a crush on.

The gun test, there’s some subtle hints that Frank knew the gun was empty and that this was just a test by his suspect. First things first he looks down and the thug behind his partner holding the smother bag, that’s a hint that he probably wasn’t going to kill him, the leader asks him to pop him as a test of loyalty, a gun unloaded is a bit lighter than a loaded one, Frank probably figured that out by holding it.

Clint Eastwood is probably Smith & Wesson's best costumer. I mean he can literally make any of their Revolvers look bad ass. Hell Clint is the whole reason Revolvers are my favorite type of firearm.
