The annual Purge begins.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
A vengeful father comes to the aid of a mother, her teenage daughter, and a defenseless young couple on the one night of the year that all crime, including murder, is legal in this self-contained sequel from co-producer Jason Blum and original Purge writer/director James DeMonaco. As the countdown to the Purge starts ticking, struggling waitress Eva (Carmen Ejogo) risks her safety by staying late at work to ask her boss for a raise. Later, as she returns home to her elderly father (John Beasley) and daughter Cali (Zo Soul), bickering couple Shane (Zach Gilford) and Liz (Kiele Sanchez) attempt to make their way out of the city following a frightening run-in with a gang of masked, machete-wielding thugs. While these five people are eager to seek sanctuary from the impending wave of violence about to flood the streets, a lone stranger (Frank Grillo) intent on seeking vengeance for the wrongful death of his son plans to draw blood from the man responsible. Armed to the teeth as he cruises the city in a modified muscle car, he gets sidetracked from his mission when he sees Eva and Cali fighting for their lives against a small army of black-clad soldiers. Against his better judgment, he rescues the pair, only realizing later that Shane and Liz also jumped into his backseat in order to escape a gang that disabled their car and were hunting them through the streets. When the stranger's car is similarly damaged beyond the point of repair, this unlikely group must stick together in order to survive the night. But little do they realize that their nightmare has only just begun.

I like to imagine the guy wielding the axe at 1:54 has some personal vendetta against someone which is why he’s alone. Banks move and hide all money before the purge just so that doesn’t happen. In this movies world the streets that have all the banks are actually the most bare/unvisited during Purge night since no one lives there and there’s no money or other point of going So if you wanted to survive Purge night the smartest thing would be to get to the banks and hide

If you really digest the purge as a concept, it's one of the scariest horror movies ever made. As a U.S.A. citizen, I know what I'm allowed to legally own and the list is pretty vast...and I'm pretty stable, imagining even slightly unstable people going off during a purge is just scary.

I did enjoy this movie, but my favorite part was the first 20 minutes. The build up to the purge, and then finally seeing all the crazies coming out to play. It was pretty fun seeing that.

+nytolstoy yeah so true. I enjoyed it aswell but the beginning was the best. In my opininon that movie have to have a better character detail. Giving more information about them. I liked the mask guys somehow more then all the others. Exept for the main character he was pretty badass. i also had to cringe sometimes seeing how dumb some people are xD

Fine. Point is people on the large are pretty damned incompetent when it comes to solving problems that continuously plague society. So there should be select individuals specifically trained and raised to understand how to better combat such problems effectively by having access to and being raised by information not so easily revealed to the populace. If we need better leaders, let them be crafted like a masterpiece instead of just being another elected doofus that creates more problems than they solve.

Really like the fact that the guy with the 50 Cal still has a ring on his finger, and that they take only a brief moment to show it. To me, it adds an element to the story that, no matter who you are or what you do as a living - even a married family man - the purge remains enticing. This whole scene is put together really well.
