FILM DESCRIPTION:
After 19 years as a prisoner, Jean Valjean (Hugh Jackman) is freed by Javert (Russell Crowe), the officer in charge of the prison workforce. Valjean promptly breaks parole but later uses money from stolen silver to reinvent himself as a mayor and factory owner. Javert vows to bring Valjean back to prison. Eight years later, Valjean becomes the guardian of a child named Cosette after her mother's (Anne Hathaway) death, but Javert's relentless pursuit means that peace will be a long time coming.

I remember the 1st time I heard it in a theatre. I began literally sobbing like a kid ... and clapping. Got lots of looks from people sitting around me (not that I cared) 🤪❤️

@@Utkarshn I would love to see it in theatres, but this is the closest I’m going to get for a while, if ever. The trio harmony at the end is just perfection in this movie compared to the others singing. Hugh jackman and Russell Crowe were just not great. Eddie redmayne on the other hand, with no professional theatre experience that I know of, or was it vocal experience? Regardless, he did an amazing vocal performance. Amanda Seyfried and Samantha Barks absolutely killed it with their performances. I watched this movie for the first time that I could remember for an English assignment and when I got to this part I was like “harmonic perfection”. For the other parts of this movie without them in it, it just wasn’t great. The emotional punches weren’t there.

Though she's a miserable character too, but I don't think she's a pitiful character. In the original book, she buillied Cosette with her family as a child and also tried to die with Marius. What she did for good purpose was stopping her father robbing Cosette's house, but this was also come from the jealousy.

Coming back to listen to this version and how beautiful it is. Eddie Redmayne is just spectacular in how he ACTS this scene, not just how he sings it. His nervous laugh to Cosette is just so perfect to me. And do I even need to mention Amanda or Samantha’s beautiful vocals❤

Zzz Zzz I don’t know... Amanda has visible wrinkles now, and she looks older than Lily and Emma. Also Rapunzel’s personality is different from Bella and Cinderella. Rapunzel is like Amanda when she was in Mamma Mia 1, young, full of spirits and dreams, so there should be a younger actress for the role. "Every word that he says is a dagger in me." this line always hit my heart to the core. I was in love with someone whom I should've not be in love with. My best friend. I confessed to him and that left a scar to our friendship that we built. We resolved it... And still it's not fine. The next day we're fine, the next day we're not, repeat. But when we are fine, he talks with me for a long period of time... The conversation is all about the person that he loves. He's ranting about how hurted he is and I was there comforting him. I was there motivating him how everything will be fine and how they would be together in the near future if faith let them be. Every word that he says is a dagger in me, every advice and jokes I made is the same amount of tears that falls from my eyes through the screen.

I’m glad there’s someone who’s going through the same thing. It’s weird because even though I want him to shut up, I kind of don’t in the sense that we’ll lose that part of our friendship and in the end I just want him to be happy.

He has a new very close friend, one of our best friends. They are so happy together and that was making me jealous 'cause I always feel like I'm left behind. That he forgot who's the one who's with him through his ups and down. I don't want to be toxic so I chose to cut our friendship without him knowing it. I'd rather be hurted without his presence than be happy in disguise to cover up my pain when we are together while he don't talk the same with me anymore. I isolated myself from him, and this quarantine helps me a lot to cut my communication between us.

Michaella Victoria omg, my “he” is now currently together with one of friends too and he didn’t tell me because he thought it would be weird and I’m afraid we’re not going to talk how we used to. To be honest I’m doing the exact same thing and cutting our friendship on my half because I see he’s online all the time and I know all he’s doing is talking to her which is killing me inside. I really hope things work out for you though, don’t let someone else’s happiness be the reason you can’t have your own❤️

Amanda Seyfried's wicked fast vibrato throws me for a loop every time I watch this. I really wish Tom Hooper hadn't been so method and sadistic making this film, Eddie sounds so much better standing still than he does dancing around. (And don't get me started about poor Hugh Jackman shredding his voice for no reason, that's a different scene)

These three in this scene absolutely steal the show, it just hurts that the rest of the film is such a mess... I much prefer the 25th Anniversary version, especially since Samantha Barks absolutely kills it as Eponine in that version and Alfie Boe is an infinitely better Valjean than Hugh Jackman

@@jbvader721 I know... I especially feel his pain and anger at that abominable Cats film. The good news is that Hooper won't be making another adaptation of a musical for a good long time, so we don't have to worry about him butchering Pirates of Penzance or anything like that

Honestly, I’m happier with Samantha, her voice, her face, her acting, I think she played the part much better than Taylor would have; I think that Taylor is truly talented despite my opinion.

I love Taylor Swift so much but she's not a musical theatre actress. It wouldn't have worked especially for a role as demanding as Eponine. The person playing the role would inevitably get compared to Lea Salonga and only Samantha kind of gets close to that level.

Amanda Seyfried has quite a voice range. She can sing at a high pitch and speak with a low pitch to play Elizabeth Holmes. 😉
