I think its more to show the lack of regard for her own wellbeing, she's purely focused and devoted in keeping Frodo safe above all else. As long as he lives, it doesn't matter what happens to her, shes willing to be injured and maybe lay down her life for the safety of another (and a non-elf at that)

@@G.S.Productions Yeah, something that the makers of The Rings of Power don't seem to notice. And now, they want to make a animated movie about an unnamed woman of Rohan while there are so many heroins no one knows about: Luthien, Idril or Nienor for example.

Well, she's the lady of Rivendell for nothing. She's the granddaughter of Lady Galadriel one of the most powerful elf in Middle Earth who's a royalty elf of both Noldor and Teleri. Grandchild of King Finwë and King Olwë. The daughter of Lord Elrond the King of Rivendell. She has the power to summon the river in Rivendell and she's using the old Elvish language on that scene.

@@mossripalextechno6450 It's one of the changes PJ made that I absolutely 100% agree with. Glorfindel may be an important part of the Simarillion and of the story of the elves of Middle Earth but he has nothing to do with the story of the destruction of the One Ring apart from rescuing Frodo here and attending the Council of Elrond. Arwen has a personal connection to one of main protagonists of the story as well as an important supporting character. It made sense to put her in Glorfindel's place here.

It's the difference on whether you want to approach LOTR as a fantasy tale or as a mythological endeavour. As a tale, Arwen's inclusion is pretty good, putting it in stride with other stiries for contemporary audiences. As a Mythological endeavour, the replacement of Glorfindel is criminal, as it connects the story with the greater mythology, and signifies the active support (and involvement) of the Valar in the ring's destruction. Since PJs movies are clearly fantasy tales, she fits quite well.

I remember watching this in the cinema with my dad as a child and it was this scene which made me fall in love with the franchise. I know now this was originally supposed to be glorfindel but arwen was a better choice for the movie. Liv literally gives off the aura, grace and bravery of the elves

Fun fact: Liv Tylor actually improvised the whole river magic spell. The fear you can see in the faces of the Nazgul is genuine fear from the actors who were not at all prepared for the floodwaters. PJ decided to leave it in because he was so impressed!

Asfaloth is one strong horse. He's carrying a 135-pound elf and an 85-pound hobbit. The black horses are carrying about a pound of black cloth and three pounds of sword and they still can't catch Asfaloth. That horse is a legend.

The Nazgûl seems heavy, when they walk or descend of the horse when we first see them you can sense their power/weights, I don’t think they are just made of thin air. More than disturbed and concentrated dark energy from another realm.

Noro lim Asfaloth! I love how even so badass as Arwen is she FEELS the danger and knows she cannot survive against The Nine this side of the river Bruinen. Her plea to Asfaloth helps showcase how dire the need. The bond between beast and rider shows on screen, evidently it existed off screen as well according to BTS footage and interviews.

I was 13 when this came out n was just in awe of it. Such a classic rendition of the timeless battle between good and evil n no matter how big, or small you are, you can make a massive swing in that pendulum. One of those movies you’ll never forget. Thing I remember most about this scene from when I first saw it was I was amazed at the fact the Ring Wraiths hoods stayed up during the chase when I could never keep my hoodie up on my bicycle lol and second was the sound. Particularly the last verse of Arwen’s spell. That echo effect was dead on the money and my theater had literally had a massive sound system overhaul just weeks before this movie came out and man do I remember how her voice in that auditorium just, felt like her words when right through me and it was, well, something I still remember very well even 20+ (that’s hard to believe) years later.
