I found this show about 18 months ago. I watched the entire first season in a day, and then was immediately pissed off. Apparently my thing is discovering shows that I really love and then finding out they got canceled long before I found them. Show like: the Passage, Helix, Between, Survivors (British show from 2008), V-Wars, Travelers, Timeless, and so many more. Just wish I could find shows that reach a natural conclusion before they got canceled.

The series holds approval rating of 62% based on 26 reviews, with an average rating of 7.02/10 on Rotten Tomatoes. The website's critical consensus reads, "Strong performances from leads Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Saniyya Sidney can't course correct The Passage's wayward plot and feeble tone." Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned the series a score 62 out of 100 based on 17 critics. Lucy Mangan of The Guardian praised the father-daughter dynamic between Brad and Amy and the series' execution of a "draft" storyline. Alison Herman, writing for The Ringer, said that the novels were a poor fit for network television and criticized some of the show's deviations from the source material.

I had the pleasure of reading The Passage novels. While the show was okay it honestly should’ve been made into a movie trilogy. If you’ve read the novels then you’ll understand where I’m coming from because it left out so many characters from Peter, Theo, Alicia, Michael, Caleb. Not only that.. in the novel the virals actually glowed green and looked more monstrous. Patient Zero (Fanning) was the only viral who could take human form while he had his fangs he only converted back to this form after an indecent with water. All in all I truly enjoyed the novels I hope one day this can actually get into the right directors hands because it has so much potential to be a new great vampire trilogy.

@StephenBrown-xf7dd

@danielmontalvo6185 Exactly!! It didn’t even feel like a vampire book until I read further. The author did such a great job with the character development in the novels from before/after the outbreak to the virals. Even though the show was okay in my opinion they should’ve made The Passage into a 3 movie trilogy because the show left out SO much it’s ridiculous. First and foremost they switched up Amy/the virals, Babcock was a man and not a woman who actually plays a HUGE role in the 2nd novel as well as Guilder/Lila/Grey. Anthony was nothing like how the author described him in the book, the characters AFTER the outbreak. Man I can go on and on but as a big fan of the novels I truly hope we can see this on the big screen because it has so much potential to be GREAT if a director of the likes of Guillermo del Toro or Sam Raimi were the ones to direct it.. one can only hope.

A show with a storyline like all others that deal on disastrous vampire pandemic, is sure to suffer the same fate of ultimately getting canned because audiences eventually realize the circular nature of it: get bitten, transform, feed on victims, repeat. It goes on and on and on in circular mode. Only faces and circumstances change, but the process remains the same. Bram Stoker is rolling in the grave.

The two most common things in movies. Number 1: a person in a car or on foot always trespassing a military or police checkpoint. Number 2: a person tells another person to stay there, yet they go wander somewhere else.

If anyone is wondering, The Passage is a book series by Justin Cronin… and it is VERY good. It’s a long read, you may need to go back and forth in chapters to understand better, but that makes it even better in my opinion. I urge everyone to check it out.
