From black and a dark song both show the process of a ritual summoning, and there'll be more movies made like it, so to say, from black is a rip off of a dark song, is like saying every demonic possession movie is a rip off from the exorcist, From Dark is a good watch and so are the acting, just my opinion

I did remember watching "A Dark Song" in the past and wanted to see if "From Black" was the same or different. From Black does copy alot of the same plotlines but I think it's a little more updated and perhaps better acting. I didn't get the whole story as to what was going on until the end, but it did conclude OK. If you haven't seen A Dark Song then this movie is pretty good overall and worth watching.

@@Aquariun9iteMMare normally I hate it when stuff gets spoiled but I never watched the end of a dark song because SPOILER (kind of) it was too depressing and I just got this weird vibe that the guy was going to perform this ritual with her and then just kill her in the end and that would have been the twist and it just made me sad to watch (my stepsister was murdered when she was 9 and this movie did not sit well with me) so I'm actually glad you told me the ending because I'm never going to watch it again but it's nice to know how things turn out (but maybe add "spoiler alert" before you say the ending of a movie) lol

Bugger!!! I've just started watching From Black. As soon as the purification started and the music I knew they'd been massively influened by 'A Dark Song'. I've only watched 30 mins and just know they must of seen it. There's another another horror... well dark humoured horror with the creepy guy from 'ADS' in. I think it's called 'Tourists'. That's worth a watch.

@@Aquariun9iteMMare No. A Dark Song is a movie about a woman who's child was killed and some nutty "occultist" guy who thinks he can do magic. So she pays him to perform a ritual with her. She wants to get revenge on whoever killed her kid. In the end they just shut themselves up in a house and starve themselves for days on end and delirium begins to sink in and they go completely crazy from malnutrition but in their craziness (from both malnutrition, isolation, and the craziness that they each already had to begin with) they just go really nuts and see things that aren't there and assume that the magical ritual is working. In my opinion it was completely stupid.

I'm like 99% sure judging by the audio quality and how it was presented, this was actually an editing mistake. If not when uploading, but at some point during the trailer process. That said, omg it's so much more effective like this.

I haven't seen A Dark Song yet but doesn't this seem thematically similar? I mean I'm pumped on this too but I watched this trailer and was like "wait haven't I seen some trailer like this before?"

I watched the movie last night and I've been on a spree to warn everyone. This is a massive rip off of a dark song. It's like a easy viewing blumhouse version. The level of plagiarism is absolutely offensive. It goes right down to the color correction of the sun shining into the rooms even. A Dark Song is a phenomenal film this is trash.

It got under my skin how often she looked as though she was smiling/laughing. Particularly during the so called scary parts. Apart from that fact,a pretty decent movie

This reminds me of another movie Shudder gave us over a year ago. I just tried to find it, but it was about a mother who sought out an occultist to do ritual magick after she lost her son. It was really good and this trailer looks good and I'll be looking for it.

That was exactly the movie I remembered! What is the title of that movie? I was literally thinking about it yesterday. It was really good and very weird. I didn't understand the ending. Sometimes I think that's the point. Like the final scene in The Sopranos. It made everyone so mad, because it gave no clarity on what happened to the Soprano family. I thought it was brilliant and unforgettable.

If you've seen A Dark Song, there is no reason to watch this. Frankly, I don't understand how a movie can be so similar to another without recognizing it as a reboot It's like if a Jason reboot came out, hockey mask and all, and they didn't mention anything of the other movies.

I just went and watched the trailer for that and wow, a blatant rip off. A Dark Song looks way better, too. This crap looks like another Witch style movie with long drawn out scenes of silence for zero reason, ridiculously stupid costume monsters and bad acting.

A Dark Song was terrible to me and I love slow burns and occult horror films. I found it uneventful, boring and the characters uninteresting. Normally this the type of film I love but it missed the mark for me. I wanted to love it so bad too.

At first, I did get the feel that this could be good. But as the movie progresses, the dialogue is very slow. The scarejumps, are not scary at all. It feels very without proper direction from what this movie could have been. It is basically a movie, trying to pose as being more scary than it ever had the chance of being. Beautiful lead actress though. :)

I've heard this is a rip off of A Dark Song so I watched that first because of the great reviews. I love a slow burn with a good pay off. I also love independent horror films. Having said that I just found A Dark Song boring, and not scary at all. I couldn't even get the feeling of being unsettled that I love with some horror films. I found the characters uninteresting and the story uneventful and boring. It was really disappointed with it.😩

I just watched this. Anna Camp does not have the necessary performance skills--not even close. I don't understand why she was cast for the part. This could have been a decent low-budget horror film with better casting. But Anna Camp isn't an actor.

This movie, while good, had me annoyed at the lead actress. While her acting was okay, I suspect that she had Botox done on her forehead, due to which there was absolutely no moving of the eyebrows, which was making her facial expressions in most of the scenes unclear as to whether she was smiling or frowning or sad or laughing or crying. Not a good effect in intense scenes AT ALL. Also, the character being played was just plain annoying sometimes, lol. Looking forward to watching A dark song.....but couldnt find it on Prime, idk??!?

This film looks like a complete rip off of the film A Dark Song from 2016. Everything of note in this trailer is direcrly from A Dark Song. Wanna see a real ritual on film? Watch A Dark Song. This is a cheap, bubblegum version of the original film. How dare they do this to my favorite horror movie. Thumbs way down

WTF....did I just watch? Don't bother with this "D" List movie, "D" list actors, poor directing & awful sound! This is not scary, it's a total waist of time! First off the actors voices sound like whispers even if you turn your sound up. The sound effects are way to loud, and you can't hear the actors properly. The setting is boring, and the ending is not exciting at all...This too me is very bad in every aspect. Even when the actors are supposed to be serious (sad) they look like they are laughing...Watch if you enjoy a very boring movie. AND NO, this is not even a campy movie at all...Thumbs down:(
