Keyboard shortcut(s) may make it easier for some. Especially when you want to move it between two other. To move column A between columns C and D, Ctrl-X (Cut) column A, select column D and press Ctrl-+ (Ctrl and Plus) to 'Insert Cut Cells'. This is particularly useful if you have a wider range of columns and then it's practically difficult to drag the selected column all along. The same applies for rows, and also, consecutive columns/rows, too. Ctrl-+ can also be used for adding a blank column/row between any two other if the clipboard doesn't paste in anything. Similarly, Ctrl and - (minus/dash) deletes a column/row.

Use the CTRL and the SHIFT as well when you drag. SHIFT will move and insert it, CTRL will create a copy of the column and copy it.

To move a column without copying it, one can use the Move handle with SHIFT key pressed. That will enable you to move the column anywhere you want, even between other columns

Thanks but does not work for me, it says "can't do this with multiple ranges selected, select a single range and try again" ? I only have one column selected, filter is switched on and some coilumns are hidden but that should not matter surely, thanks in advance
