A rail pass is a very economical way to see Japan. Passes give you unlimited access for a limited amount of time. Sleep in your reclining seat and stop when you like. Public bathhouses and convenience stores are plentiful along the way. You can spend ten days for a couple of hundred dollars.

Nice work, enjoyed the video. I’ve seen spaghetti rolls at various convenience stores and bakeries in Japan but never been tempted, your breakfast experience didn’t change my mind. The udon in Kotohira looked awesome though and more than made up for it.

Congratulations! You made it to the top! Also, your Rock smashes my Scissors! Thanks for the ride on the sunrise express! Can you bring a camping mat to sleep on instead of just having to sleep on the burbur carpet? You could find a self inflating one. It's not too much trouble and would make the nobi nobi seat much more enjoyable. Of course if you get single deluxe, you won't have to worry about that. I love the sunrise express. Reminds me of Architect Frank Lloyd Wright here in Chicago and his "Prarie style" architecture and design. Mid-century modern. I hope it never changes. Sunrise express forever! 💛💛💛

I was on the Sunrise last November! Managed to find a way to book online and later claim the ticket and base fare with the jr rail pass. Was an amazing experience and I enjoyed watching the stars as I fell asleep!

At the risk of sounding like a stereotypical westerner, nonetheless: I couldn't do the nobi nobi "seat." It's not just that the "bed" is an uncushioned hard floor with no mattress or pillow, but that I'd be right up against another person with little space separating them from me, almost zero true privacy or security, the noise etc that is certain to accompany these sort of accommodations, and, mostly, that the "seat" doesn't even have a SEAT-- no comfortable way to sit up and look out the window etc if I didn't want to sleep. If I knew I wanted to sleep, I'd pay the extra and opt for a "solo," but it seems to me that a standard reclining train seat would be preferable to the nobi nobi, which simply looks A W F U L. Again, I realize that this may instantly peg me as a typical pampered American or westerner; so be it. Ugh.

Дешевая кабинка в поезде - неудобная, наверное, спать там было жестко. Но хорошо, что есть качественный санузел 💧 И виды из окна - очень красивые! Храм с 1385 ступенями - потрясающий! Но я бы, наверное, до самого верха не добралась😏 Удон🍜 выглядит очень аппетитным. Сразу захотелось попробовать!😋😋😋 Большое спасибо!🌸

You also should bring a two pronged 3 way plug so you can turn a single outlet into 3. I always travel with one and use it ALL the time.👍

サンライズも乗ってみたい気も有ります。が、長距離移動は場所にもよりますが、バスかフェリーを選択します。格安でゆったりと出来ますから。今はバスも三列シートでトイレ付きはマスト。フェリーも個室に自販機有りですから。
