I switched from Premiere a few months ago. Adobe's subscriptions just seem to expensive. I'm still trying to decide if I need to buy Resolve as it does everything I need in the free version so far. It's a bit of a learning curve but a lot of fun to learn. I use it to edit videos for my KZfaq videos and I am so happy that I changed. Great video, Ryan! Liked and subscribed. Looking forward to more tutorials from you! Thanks! 👍👍

Appreciate the sub Gord rock. Adobe certainly is an expensive option. You can absolutely get by with the free version of resolve. Though the paid version is really great too. To be honest I don’t think you can go wrong with your choice there. I have the paid version and think it’s well worth the investment. Let us know what you go with :)

Dude, love how this is more than just an overview of the surface level differences, but actually dives into the workflow things a premiere user would run into. I didn't realize it until you said it but the way resolve always sets sequences to project settings seemed like a disadvantage to me, but now seeing that it uses relative scaling always is super cool. Also the render cache thing was something I was always confused about and this helps me understand it a bit more!

Yes lad! Just found your channel today and on week 2 of cold turkey transition from Premiere to Resolve. It's absolutely unreal how much creativity this thing has out of the box!

Was there myself only 2 years back! Glad this could help 🙂 out of interest. What have you found to be the biggest struggle so far? 🤔

@@RyanOsborneUK Weirdly, I'm not really struggling. I've only done basic fade-to-color transitions but the biggest saviour has been getting a Razer Tartarus and mapping the essentials to that. Still learning about audio work and sidechaining.

Amazing videos! Could you do a deep dive video on keyboard shortcuts? Since switching to resolve I haven't been able to edit quite as fast because it's been hard to figure out the shortcuts for editing fast, and I don't always know the names of the commands in the keyboard shortcut editor.

The struggle is real my friend. I hear you. What did you switch from? It’s a good idea

@@RyanOsborneUK Premiere pro. I found the equivalent to Q and W which was great, but I still don't have all the same speedy shortcuts down that I had in Premiere, like: - modifier keys to move or extend clips on the timeline and have things flow around or ripple - jump to next or previous keyframe or marker - select the clip at the playhead - render in to out - jump to different workspaces - open and jump to the effects panel or other panels - turn certain tracks to be active or not - create nested sequence - shortcuts to switch between trim modes - apply default transition - select everything forward - select everything forward on specific track

Just made the switch. File management is a bitch in Resolve...you need to do everything within the program; moving or renaming files within Explorer will get you in big trouble. It definitely takes some getting used to. Other than that, I'm liking it so far.

Glad you're liking it :) welcome to the channel. Renaming or moving files within explorer has the same effect in Resolve as it would have in Premiere surely? You'd need to relink your files.

Biggest differences Resolve is better and Blackmagic listens to its customers unlike Adobe who just want your monthly payment......forever

Davinci is just soooo much more better for me than Premiere. It is way less time to edit on DVR.

I am waiting for the day when also companies choose working with DaVinci instead of Premiere. For less money they got faster editing. I really have no idea why companies are obsessed with Premiere... Does anybody can explain this to me?
