Furniture Sliders!!! For heavy couches or other furniture I use little moving pads/furniture sliders. I carry a set with me that can be used on hard floors or converted for use on carpet. It's so easy because I only have to lift each corner of the couch an inch to place my slider. I do this while down on floor braced on my kneepads so no back strain. Once they are in place the couch moves with just a finger touch. I do this on deep cleans or by special request. With just a little practice you can move even those incredibly heavy mechanized couches quickly and with zero strain. These are the same risers that professional movers and carpet cleaners use. They work perfectly and they are very cheap, any hardware store will have a set! Hope someone can use this tip, work smarter not harder!

I don't move heavy furniture. Only small side tables and such. I have a vacuum cleaner I use that can go under furniture and beds. If the customer wants me to clean under heavy items, they will have to move it themselves.

This is just my two cents worth but I believe that you are a professional house cleaner and NOT a professional MOVER!

We move furniture when it's reasonable to do so on deep cleans. We also clean the sides and behind appliances when it's reasonable to do so. If a client has pets we (the two of us) will move the coffee table so that we can vac hair underneath. I would never ecoect a cleaner to move furniture if they are alone but I would expect them to push a dust mop or swiffer under furniture to grab hair. Our problem is clients expecting us to clean under beds when they have totes and other organizers stuffed. I just can't slide under someone's bed, remove all that stuff clean and replace. That's when I pass on the job

On the homes that I do regular by weekly and monthly cleanings. I will rotate every other cleaning and move the couch and clean underneath it. And I will move little side tables and things like that every time I clean. But nothing heavier.

Just yesterday, I did my first cleaning at a new Costumer. This Lady want me to clean her living room. It is packet with old heavy furniture and carpets! The laminate is only seen in tiny spaces... So I had to move 4 heavy armchairs, 1 three-seater couch, 3 middle sicced rectangular carpets, 1 big round table and 1 big round carpets beneath it. Only the four-seater couch code stay on its place. Under each carpet was a good amount of coarse sand. Thankfully, the 85-year-old Lady help me to move the furniture ! It took me 1.5 hours to finished only this room! (Including wiping spiderwebs, wipe the dust from the Lamps and sideboards, sweeping and mope the floor.) I hope this deep clean last long! And I can find another method to clean this room regularly.

These situations depend on the house. If the person has lots of furry pets charge accordingly and know their expectations. Also make them sign a damage waiver if they insist. on moving things like extremely heavy couches on lets say a laminate floor. So many things can go wrong stick with Angela's advice. Lol

I wouldn't move heavy furniture during a regular clean. Clients don't pay me to be off of work with a bad back.

I do not move heavy furniture. I been in the business for 15 years. I will move chairs. its a health hazard. if the customer moves it for cleaning i will clean under it.

What if the bed is over wall to wall carpet. I would like to not only pickup the fuzz balls but also suck the dust. In the past, I struggle with removing the mattress and the box myself so I can vaccumm the carpet before putting it back on the frame. Do you have a recommendation as to what approach to take without keep doing this?

It's ridiculous for a boss to require you to move big heavy furniture at every clean. We have to protect our anatomy! We strain the wrong way, we could hurt our reproductive machine.
