Great video. Thanks for the great reference to the hydraulic lift cart. I’ve never seen those but will be buying one for heavy moves. I’m not spring chicken and my back and joints have taken a beating so this will help tremendously. Take care.

Hi great video 😊- learnt valuable stuff. I happened to find that a heavy piece of furniture, or its top edge placed on top of a (silver foil windscreen sun shade or 2) - will slide so easily like a breeze over a carpeted interior car tray. Just lean it in, top edge at least on the foil sun shade and the push is as if it has wheels.😊

Really helpful. Just bought a 2004 Tacoma and have my first job transporting a curio cabinet about 200 miles. It’ll fit on its back between the wheel wells but goes about half way onto the tailgate which must be down. Any suggestions on best way to make sure it’s secured and won’t slide out the back.?

Thank you for your tips. I like the way you present things. As a woman, when I work alone getting something into my truck I will also use large cardboard I have saved from whatever and then I can slide the cardboard around inside the bed and it helps when sliding it out as well and will cover the tailgate so it doesn't damage the piece. I also want one of those lift gadgets. I wonder, how do you get it out when you get to your destination, do you have someone on the other end to help? I have to schedule that when I move something heavy, though you would not believe the Viet Namese pot I brought home once in the front seat of my sports car. Crazy. I kind of had to roll it out.

Hi Anna. Cardboard is a great idea! I often use a moving blanket under the heavy stuff to help pull it in and out. I think I showed it in the "Restoration of a 1937 Singer Sewing Machine" video. Man, that thing was heavy! For some reason when I was shooting this video, I didn't use one. I also parked the hydraulic table too far from the truck as you can see. Oh well, live and learn. I can usually load and unload the furniture I haven't worked on by myself, since I'm not too concerned if it gets scratched. The finished pieces get way more care and I try to have help at the other end to off load the bigger pieces. I actually have a second hydraulic cart at my storage unit, so I can load and unload finished pieces there all by myself.

Thanks for your reply. I also have tried moving blankets under heavy things, but the cardboard idea came to me when I had a bunch in the bed and got hay for my horse and sliding that out on top of the cardboard was really slick. I did figure you had a second hydraulic at your destination. Thanks.

If you do this a lot you might want to install one of those carriages into your truck bed. If not maybe PVC pipe to roll stuff in and out Egyptian style.

Do you only sell to consignment stores? Do you sell private or any other ways?

I sell at various venues. If you check out my video "Furniture Flips and Some Free Advice", I explain it. Diversification is important as is your ability to move pieces of various quality to the right customer.
