Great work again, I'm new to your channel, I was wondering why you have laid on a screed mix rather than a full bed of mortar?
@GreentopLandscapes
@GreentopLandscapes Жыл бұрын
Hi Ben thank you, simple fact is screed has compressive strength where as wet mortars are usually for brickwork and is used as glue, they are not really suitable for bedding mortars, call me if you want

Why don't you use your rubi table saw? Even the old trusty stihl saw and hose pipe. I used to hate dry cutting, can't see why you would do it when you have the correct tools to do the job easier and with no dust.

Re watching some of these slate patio videos as I started mine last year, damaged my elbow so only got a third of the area done (total is about 100 M sq) - about to re start and noticed some of the slabs are popping off the mortar bed, it was very hot when I laid them, also had some mini piles driven in for an extension a month back so think the vibrations must have broken the bond, all slurry backed so seeing them pop off is annoying. All laid on mortar rather than screed, I’m just wondering if I should pop the lot off (if they will) and start over with screed rather than mortar this time…

@@GreentopLandscapes I use Tilemaster Adhesives but any exterior S1 tile adhesive will do.... instead of using a paintbrush or roller use the flat edge of a plastering trowel to back butter the slab with the adhesive..... it lasts all day in the bucket. www.tilers-world.com/a~tw-448-tilemaster-standard-setaflex-grey-20kg.html?TW&gclid=CjwKCAiAgJWABhArEiwAmNVTB4gw2IXbLOiVJExGhyaRscphU3MH4_Uz9TNqPszJJ4THGSQ5dXz3pRoC5WgQAvD_BwE

@@tomastley6080 Hi Tom What ratio to mix the Tilemaster Adhesive, can it be a slurry that I can put on with a roller as I am laying on a wet mix and do not want to pay the ripoff price for easyprime. Many thanks.

@tomastley6080 3 жыл бұрын
@@neiluk78 Hi Neil, I just mix so it is a thick wallpaper paste consistency, you should be able to roll that on. Personally, I use a flat trowel to spread the slurry but you could also brush it on with a hand brush.
