24 years since its dark history of genocide, the Rwandan Nation has made strides beyond its East African peers in what appears deliberate organization of public affairs.... The public transport system in Kigali shows all manner of possibilities in streamlining the historical chaotic sector.... Sam Gituku was in Kigali recently and filed this report.
Citizen TV is Kenya's leading television station commanding an audience reach of over 60% and in its over 12 years of existence as a pioneer brand for the Royal Media Services (RMS), it has set footprints across the country leaving no region uncovered.
This is your ideal channel for the latest and breaking news, top stories, politics, business, sports, lifestyle and entertainment from Kenya and around the world.

The excuse that Kenya is larger than Rwanda holds no water. The population density of Rwanda is 507 people per square kilometer ( 6,500 for Kigali). Kenya's population density is 90 people per square kilometer (4,509 for Nairobi). Clearly, Rwanda and Kigali are more crowded than Kenya and Nairobi respectively. The only difference is that Rwanda enforces their laws which instills discipline in their society whereas Kenya is a lawless police state with a culture of corruption and impunity!

It's a nice way of bringing sanity to this chaotic sector, but remember Nairobi is bigger and needs a more complex system, of which it's very possible if the government really decided to bring the sanity. it looked like Rwanda used Chinese built buses (probably used a CKD which was assembled in Rwanda) and Chinese built motor vehicles don't usually last long until they get into serious problems however European buses are built to last such as the Mercedes-Benz 0305 lasting something like 30 years in service in Singapore and British Built buses such as the MCW Metrobus being pulled from its final service in 2016 only because new English legislation required that all buses operating on a regular service out of private land be low floor and follow the strict compliance of the Disabilities Discrimination Act 1997/1995? and not to forget the GM Fishbowl lasting service operations from the 1960s? to the 1990s. although it doesn't matter that any European company operates public transport in Rwanda, just make sure that your nation (assuming that your from Rwanda or somewhere else in Africa) doesn't take out any Chinese loans since these loans are known for being a part of Debt Trap Diplomacy where countries take out huge loans in order to build some huge infrastructure project only for the benefits to be short-term and the nation to have to sell what was built to the Chinese state in order to pay of debts.

The argument at 7:55 that "Rwanda is a small country" imo is nonsense. Let's take Tokyo for example. Their Cumulated delay time for public transport in one year is in the minutes. Here are the areas and Inhabitants for comparison: Tokyo metropolitan 13.572 km² @ 37.555.000 Inhabitants VS Nairobi metropolitan 32,715 km² @ 6,547,547 Inhabitants. I wonder, could incompetence, mismanagement, lobbyism and/or grand corruption be playing a role here maybe? hmmmmm...

dividing the city areas in its own public transport network with one operator per area seems a bit silly since it gives an operator a monopoly in one area and if people are divided into an area then it would lead to the creation of ghettos leaving the city racially divided which is never a good thing as it leads to more crime.
@kylexy9408
@kylexy9408 5 жыл бұрын
basically it is not like that.the areas with many people more than 1public services works but there are some areas with few people then they share them each with one public service.but in ways to bus station they will pass on same path with people at bus stands who will travel with any of them,and price is the same.i can't explain to you perfectly but I tried and it solved so much problems in our transports I can testify that

It would be better if Rwanda took ideas from the British public transport network where private companies can enter territory of another operator and engage into a bus war where operators compete for the best service, lowest fare and highest number of passengers while low-usage bus services serving housing estates and the countryside better get a subsidy which is usually £2 per empty seat on board with the operator reprimanded for using a huge Double Decker bus on a service that runs hourly and sees a maximum of 30 passengers per bus on the entire round trip, this system would lead to greater competition, improved service and higher ridership as costs go down.

@@wclifton968gameplaystutorials yeah they enter in territory of another but from different stations and also from that stations there may be other companies which move from there.but in one territory you will find more than one company competiting,but the difference is that here all services are the same.same price,in every company there must be free Wi-Fi so no difference between them.and remember countries differ,england is highly developed country while Rwanda is developing country,i don't think anyone has the ability of providing them that is why most are government owned and cooperative's owned.slowly,slowly we will reach there

developed or developing doesn't matter when it comes to public transport since systems will usually always expand one way or another. Different prices are also a good thing since companies will compete for the cheapest fare possible leading to a race to the bottom in rock solid, low prices while government demanded prices usually artificially keep prices higher or lower than market demand and may even force companies out when they can no longer afford such low prices like in New York where metro/subway companies were planning on raising fares to combat rising costs but what happened instead was that the network was nationalized by the state to form what is now known as the MTA (Metropolitan Transit Authority) with fares going up in cost anyway.
