We are beyond excited to move to Israel this year BzH! We are also excited to vlog and document our journey. In this vlog, we celebrate our first Pesach (Passover) as a Jewish family all while decluttering our home. It was an extremely hectic time, but also a wonderful experience.
We hope you enjoy. Stay tuned for the next vlog.
Thanks for watching and Chag Sameach (Happy Passover)

You guys are amazing! It’s much harder to make Pesach when you have little children. This is what we do: We move our chometz food and makeshift kitchen (toaster oven and burner) into the dining room for about a week before… while we clean and prepare the kitchen for Pesach. Sometime we have takeout food that week to reduce the cooking load in the dining room. The day of bedikas chometz we clean up the dining room and get it ready for Pesach. We also have an extra fridge in the garage to hold all the Pesach groceries until the kitchen fridge is ready. I do not bring Pesach food into my chometz kitchen. Dry goods will stay in a box until the kitchen is Pesach ready. Once the kitchen is ready I bring all the Pesach goods and food into the kitchen and use the garage fridge for the chometz stuff. Also, no food is ever allowed in any room except for the kitchen or dining room all year.

Your children are so beautiful!!!! I'm really looking forward to your journey to Israel. I was there back in the mid 80s, I stayed on a kibbutz for six months. I hope to go back some day, I would really like to retire there, the only thing holding me back is that I don't want to leave my friends. It's a tough decision. Also downsizing would be tough, I don't even live in a house, just an apartment but I have so much stuff!

I am so excited for you guys. I can’t even put it into words. Just a few more months!! Also, on the grocery shopping, you will have isles that are just sectioned off with plastic and labeled Chametz. So all of the products available are all kosher for Pesach. It’s so convenient. For instance, I was just in Tiberias to grab some mayonnaise, and they only have the Israeli one that is kosher for right now, and the one I normally use is put away. Which I would’ve never known. So convenient. You’re gonna love it. Have a great Yom Tov!

How beautiful it is to make Aliyah! I lived in Israel between ages 9-14, dream of moving back one day :)
@gabriellaw6546
@gabriellaw6546 3 ай бұрын
I came to Israel ( we havnt officially made aliyah yettttt but taking it a year at a time because so hard to leave family) But just want to ease your mind, it took my 5 year old, and 4 year old boys about 8 months to be absolutely fluent in hebrew. They understood quicker, and it's something that is absolutely incredible to watch in a child's brain. When they start school I just kept telling them that Hashem made a miracle that kids brains are like sponges and can learn language WAY faster then grown ups. That gave them a lot of confidence I think, my 5 year old would always repeat it to me. Now I always tell him, remember when Hebrew was hard for you? He corrects me, and already translates for his Dad ( I speak.) Anyways that was my biggest anxiety when I came here so hope it helps! Hope your kids get placed in classes and gans that have kids from all over, we are in a predominately french community, so half my kids class were learning hebrew from French, Ukrainian, and Russian, and half were native hebrew speakers. I think that mix made them feel less weird about not speaking the language.. Older kids do take longer, but they'll forsure get there!!

I live a Chabad life,B"H. The only processed food we eat is wine, a few use cold pressed oil. AND NOTHING TOUCHS OUR matzos the first 7 days. 4 or 5 weeks before I clean the big scrubbing jobs. Then it gets a quick clean just before the Yom Tov. Where you put your hot foods down it is best to have 3 layers under. EVERY YEAR I GET BETTER AT THIS. How careful you are can have what things we not knowing did wrong disappear . YOU ARE ALL DOING SO WONDERFUL!!!!

Not in any way a criticism of you Akiva and Chava (luv y’all and your content to bits, so inspiring) but I am very curious how Leah and Betzalel feel about the move to Israel 🇮🇱. I realise it is some years away because both are still in high school but as citizens of Israel will they not be required to do national service? The younger bubs will obviously grow up aware and ready for this eventuality, not knowing any different, but how do your older ones feel that in 2-4 years time they will be soldiers? How do you as parents feel about this? I pray for peace as much as the next person, that no Jew ever need lay down their lives again but the threats nonetheless persist. With Hashem’s grace we will triumph but still how does everyone feel beyond the excitement, as there is some very serious, even scary, consideration as a parent and as a teenager to be made. Chag Sameach and All the Best

Some of the most delicious (i.e. cutest) memories of Pesach are how the little kids get the Four Questions just a little bit wrong. If it's good enough, their nephews and nieces will hear of it, and the teasing won't end even when you have grandkids. (The repetition of "mikol haleilot" at the end of each question is quite common. Happens in every household.)

I follow the sefradic tradition it’s not that hard to Kosherize the kitchen . For example we kasher the utensils in the Dishwasher. There is no need to kasher the countertops . We kasher pots by putting them in the oven on highest heat for about 30-45 min or ..just putting them in a bigger pot with boiling water ( like you did 😊) . We don’t kasher glass we just clean it . Etc

Am curious where you're planning to dig in roots when you arrive here. Wow what a challenge! Facts: You have to buy closets. Not everything is kosher here, but there are many kosher supermarkets. Our week starts Sunday - Friday work places close but shopping and school are open! A decent sized apartment here is less than 900 sq feet. Most live in apartments. Even though most Israelis are secular, they still love Friday night family dinners with kiddush and love Passover Seders. Hope you had a good one!

I have a table and large boxes underneath the table, in my lounge with all chametz household products that i have gathered (for anyone to use), from all the rooms around the house and our car, the weekend before Pesach weekend, that we use and bring back to the table. I buy extra pesach foods i.e. fruits veg to transition over a couple days before Pesach, once we finally remove all chametz, we eat out for a couple meals (to reduce the stress i.e. lunch and or dinner night before erev pesach, as by that time i want no more back and forth or emotional or mental attachment to the chametz, just remove it - or im forever cleaning and the kids need you also untired). Chag sameach!
