The plaintiff says he dropped his lawn mower off at the defendant’s shop to sell, but they used it for their own personal tasks. On top of that, they’re trying to charge storage fees. He’s suing for the lawn mower “hostage” fees. The defendant says the plaintiff dropped off the mower for repairs, but the man didn’t come back for a year. They’re countersuing for storage fees and an unpaid repair bill.

The defendants attitude at the end of the case, out in the hallway with kurt, leads me to believe that they were lying about the at the house being theirs. Regardless, if they take those parts out of the mower, and they return it to him not working, they're going to have another lawsuit on their hands.

@Christopher Moore that's a very interesting thought. I'm trying to think of an argument for that, but I don't think there really is a strong one. They would be returning the tractor back to the owner and it's an original shape, so it makes him whole.

The defendants are absolutely horrible people, their attitude at the very end shows just what sort of people they are and to make matters worse they are going to return the lawnmower in pieces, at which point he can get another judgement against them so that they will have to pay up $900 for it and stupidly they will then have to put it back together for themselves. They are thieves and obviously used it for themselves...

Plus their tenant (the guy who rented the lot) is the one at the center of the whole mess. He's the one who brought the mower there. Once their tenant had disappeared and was no longer renting the lot, they should have given the plaintiff back his property and called it a day. Instead, they decided what was their belonged to them even though they knew it didn't.

It's interesting the defendant didn't have proof that was his own lawn mower in front of his house, because he didn't know he was going to be questioned on it - yet he somehow knew off the top of his head that his lawnmower was a year newer than the plaintiffs. It's quite a coincidence they would own the same unique lawnmower. Think the defendants were being hateful by saying that they were going to undue any work they did before returning it. Think the person they should be mad at is Mike.
