Honestly your mower sounds like it needs replaced sooner than later. Not a good sound. You never need to apologize for emotional breaks. They're good for you and it's just your love for those who came before you and your family. God bless you.

Great video. Last year silage contractor cutting silage. He is simeny retired. 2 tool took over the set up. Started with 3 mowers cutting finish with 1 mower. Tractor with 2 mowers broke down Tuber went on tractor. Parked up for 2 weeks in field 2 harvester picking up. With 3 trailers. 1 came from local john deer dealer tfm for test run for 2 hours to get ready to sale on.

If you've a metal diesel storage tank then the debris in the bottom will be sludge and also rust from the unpainted inside of the tank, which is caused by condensation, best thing to do is invest in a plastic tank and use anti bug additives etc

Pick your wetter areas and plant walnut. Loves a bit of damp round their feet and might help dry things out a little bit. Chestnut likes things a bit dryer, as does beech, but they'll cope with most things. Get some bullace going, it'll grow quite well as a smaller tree. Crab apples. Losing old friends is just an excuse to make new ones.

Now you know why I never take Chocolate bars in my lunchbox in the tractor even though I have an Insulated cold box. I understand your sadness at all the trees dying, their what makes the British landscape what it is. Your fuel problems could be because you only use the tractor for short times over the winter and possibly water in the fuel because of condensation. A good idea to give the Tractors a good service just before you start heavy work. Craic On 👍

That was a fair impression of Blakey when you said "I hate you ash die back ". I can remember as a lad when the trees around our local hedgerows and lake were lost to elm disease. The whole character of the area was totally lost. I worked on the farm in that area, and although replacement trees had been planted, I'm sure the cattle missed the shade and protection. Anyway, on another topic, if you are making silage, perhaps the trailer crew could reverse the trailers into the clamp, instead of dumping in the crop in the muck like last year.

Great video Richard, I won't say the obvious about the mower . But what you did so far seems to have gone well. A pity Hazza missed it. I would say maintenance is the key to all these problems you have, with the mower and the tractor. Maybe change the belts check the bearings ,certainly a lot cheaper than buying a new mower. As for the tree problems with Ash die back, it's decimated the countryside and as you said on your farm you've lost a few which I could see as upset you. 😢👍👍

Felt for you with the mower in particular. Horrible feeling when you are trying to limp it through. Especially at such a critical time. I suppose the question is whether you can rely on contractors in your area. If not, give Harry a price and see what he can come up with. If he comes good the experience gained would be huge. If he gets to haggle, even if preagreed with the seller, even better.

Aparently there are signs that some young ash trees are becoming resistant to the dieback.. I have a giant ash in my garden and I dot know how it has survived, but no sign of the disease on it at all.. I was at one point surrounded by ash.. The field behind my house was an ash Forrest specially grown for making Irish hurleys, they all got the dieback and were cut down before it completely rotted the wood.. There is nothing there now, just grass... Sad..
