Genius. I made a 4 element 10 meter quad back in the 80’s with an aluminum boom and mast mount so I know the thought process. Your Moxon is inspiring. 73

Thanks, this project was a bit of work. I'm now concentrating on Hexbeams due to the convenience of multiband and smaller turning radius.

Well designed final version. I enjoyed watching the iteration. I like the background music, (maybe a bit more joy filled?). You've come a long way Colin.

You do great work Colin! I like your setup but was too cheap to buy the clamps. I may lol print some later, 73 brother and cheers!

Too kind Chuck. Hopefully we can see your Moxon multi banded soon. Mines is still a ways off. When cycle 25 warms up some more we need to try the Moxon to Moxon for a QSO.

Well done Colin…. I’d be really interested in how you tuned your Moxon. I think a video about that would be worth covering. My Moxon uses less robust fishing poles. They are about 26mm in diameter at their base, which also makes the tips much smaller from a diameter standpoint. I created 3D printed saddle clamps as well as wire anchors for the connections to the pole ends. Not as elegant as yours are, but functional. I’ve enjoyed watching your build. Thanks!

I will cover that on the final overview. The wire also performs the tension on the poles so if one is altered then the other needs altered as well.

Colin great video. Very informative. Do you have a drawing for the plate?

Maybe, I don't know if I still have it. I've moved away from this to the Hexbeam.

I dont know if I still have the drawings. I need to look. I moved to building a Hexbeam which is much more practical to build.

have you refined this design for a smaller footprint? What is the weight? THANKS Rob - AK7RM

Unfortunately not. Ive moved onto the Hexbeam as get 5 bands. It won't weigh thats much more. Problem with this design is the availability of the fibreglass poles.

Great video Colin, I've been watching your Moxon build with interest. Just clarify though is that 2mm ACP really the stuff you using there or is it 4mm?
@MM0OPXFieldRadio
@MM0OPXFieldRadio 2 жыл бұрын
It's the 2mm I'm using. If I was to set up as a permanent station on a heavy duty mast I would go with 4mm most likely.

Not yet but watch this space. There's a bit of complexity to note so the clamping to the mast arrangement is clear to understand.
