The restored third act as bold, brilliant. The fourth... was astounding. l saw a woman disguised in her maid's clothes hear her husband speak the first tender words he'd offered her in years. Simply because he thinks she is someone else. l heard the music of true forgiveness filling the theatre... conferring on all who sat there perfect absolution. God was singing through this little man to all the world. Unstoppable. Making my defeat more bitter with every passing bar.

don't understand why people say beethoven's music is more emotional than mozart's, anyone who listen's to this have to agree they are at least equal or more emotional. only mozart's music can make me shed a tear no matter how many times i listen to it.

When he goes to the deceptive cadence, then right back to it again, I lose all ability to hold back tears. It's not just the music, but the fact that it's about forgiveness. How absolutely beautiful and sweet something so simple can be!

^ That is what got me when I first really played this opera in 2010 or so. That deceptive cadence, plus, just the simple absolutely purity and clarity of line that only Mozart could have achieved - I had to leave the orchestra pit for a second cause I was just awash.

Never envy those who seem to be naturally gifted, as more often than not these people will rely too heavily on talent, learning almost nothing of the most important lesson: that diligence, focus, and the pursuit of mastery are more valuable than all the riches in the world. Upon learning this simple (but profound) truth, every so-called 'marvel' produces himself. It's never too late. Don't delude yourself for one moment into believing that Mozart had something that you do not. Time is precious.

I do understand what you're saying, but every generation produces a marvel. Van Gogh couldn't paint like Titian, and died poor because his work wan't appreciated, but we call them both geniuses now. There are different kinds of genius, different ways to express it - and when a new kind comes along, it can take decades for people to even recognise them because they're new. But geniuses never stop being born. This generation has geniuses too, thought maybe you and I will never know them as such.
