You can feel the palpable love from her to him and from the audience. Magic, pure and simple! No special effects, just raw emotion and talent.

This made me cry. It's so beautiful. It's wonderful to me that he sounds exactly like he did on the original recording and that they made this arrangement lean in more to the upbeats, samba-like. What a breath-taking performance.

Robert Goulet's gifts are not what they once were, BUT they are still magically amazing and Mr. Goulet uses them to their best advantage and the excitement of the emotional musicality makes this person want to cheer, clap, stamp his feet in wonderous admiration of the heartfelt emotional feelings that are felt from his performance. That is Theatre! The kids today should watch these youtube videos and take mental notes on what Theatre is and is not!

Wow. He had to have been 70 here and still delivering a signature performance of this song. No wonder he was popular. Yep the 90s was also good to me in the sense that my generation got to know him albeit somewhat also. For he guest starred on Boy Meets World singing the national anthem and the animated series Recess providing the singing voice for Mikey.

What a pair of stars. Julie Andrews and Robert Goulet are an almost matchless pair. Goulets only weakness was that he was a smoker and that aged him beyond his years. Still his voice was fabulous and his style was impeccable. If all that were not enough was there ever a better looking guy? I've always thought Philip Quast is the greatest musical singer ever, but his classic renditions particularly in his younger years have made me rethink that. A truly incredible star.

Caryl, here. When I was married to my second husband in the 70's, we took piano lessons from the same teacher as Robert Goulet's son. I'm sure Mr. Goulet's son did a whole lot better than us! We had fun though. We were really into John Denver so the teacher transposed John's music into the key of "C" and that's how we learned to play the piano.

I'm a woman and I've got a range of a second soprano(? Choir instructor thinks that, I'm definitely not sure) to around 2nd tenor and I love this song so much but my deepest note is about half octave to an octave lower than what seems to be his more comfortable note range (the notes in "How could it be in spring time?"). I want to sing this so bad but lord the talent needed to perform this is insanity.

I interviewed him for local TV for a show he was doing and he couldn't have been nicer! He died so young! (November 26, 1933 - October 30, 2007) Wikipedia: On September 30, 2007, Goulet was hospitalized in Las Vegas, where he was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a rare but rapidly progressive and potentially fatal condition. On October 13, 2007, he was transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after it was determined he would not survive without an emergency lung transplant. While awaiting a lung transplant, Goulet died from pulmonary fibrosis on the evening of October 30, 2007, at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center at the age of 73. Theater marquees in New York and in cities across North America were dimmed in his memory on October 31, 2007. On November 9, 2007, the day of his funeral, Las Vegas honored Goulet by closing the Las Vegas Strip for his funeral procession. Several venues also posted his name on their marquees as a final tribute.

and I believe he sobered up after he met vera goulet. I believe there were insurmountable problems with carol Lawrence that contributed to his drinking so much...I know he drank a lot...I just didn't want to say it on a site run by vera goulet, who he loved so much and who was so perfect for him and his piece of mind.
@Rusty36598 жыл бұрын
I read Carol Lawrence's book. She chronociled the problems with alcohol and didn't know whether or not Vera was able to straighten him out. But truly hoped that she was able too. I still remember when he went on the Tonight Show dead drunk and couldn't remember the words to the song he was to supposed to perform. The next night, when he sobered up he came back and sang the way he was supposed to. He was still one of the greatest singer/entertainers that ever lived.
