You asked “Is he in hell?”, the answer is yes - at least mentally and emotionally imprisoned. Think of a clown. Always wears a smiley face and has to be happy and outgoing. But what if you’re having a bad day? What if some kid just stuffed his ice cream in your pocket? You have to bite it back and choke on it. The frustration and inner turmoil must be epic. Add to that, this guy is having a mid-life crisis “Impotence, ...,clumps of hair in the sink”. The entire album is thematic and as interesting as each track is, you really can’t listen to them out of context of the entire album. I don’t want to spoil anything in case you decide to do more reaction videos, but LISTEN TO THE ENTIRE ALBUM! Mike Patton is a fantastic vocalist and he is surrounded by a group of excellent musicians who all share the same goal in creating something completely original.

“What the hell just happened?” The product of genius & insanity. A friend turned me on to this album in 1992. When he was talking about this band, he said,”It’s Mike Patton’s side project, way different from Faith No More. Think speed metal with a horn section!” I said, “Ok definitely checking this out!” Listening to this album with just the instruments alone along with the samples sprinkled in is just well put together insanity, and then Mike Patton’s vocals over that, only Patton could really have the multiple personalities vocal style that could fit the different facets of this band musically. Other than that, it’s fucking crazy, which is awesome!

@@SpaceCattttt They just recently reformed for a short tour, I've heard they have Scott Ian from Anthrax playing and the great Dave Lombardo of Slayer and Fantomas fame on drums, but Patton, Dunn and Spruance are playing under the name. Their first show on the tour sounds like a brilliant troll, everyone went to hear their...er...hits I guess, as much as Bungle has "hits", but they played the entirety of The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny, one of their early demos, and some off kilter covers. My great regret is that they're playing a handful of shows, none of which are anywhere in Canada where I live...I would kill to see this band live...
@SpaceCattttt4 жыл бұрын
@@andrewhussey4538 According to Wikipedia, they're only playing 3 shows? I don't know, but a tour would be better!! Lots of people get pissed off when they pay to go and see a show, and the HITS aren't played. But come on! If you want to hear the hits, then FNM will play them for you. If you want to see Patton and Co, then the point is that you never know what you're going to get. Like fucking chocolate, Forrest! I went to see Fantomas and people were booing because......it was too experimental and not catchy enough. Same thing when I saw Blur! They refused to play any of their singles that night, and the pitchforks soon came out in force! And I was like, the fuck, you have the bloody hits on the albums. Here's an opportunity to hear something new and unique to this night, and you choose to get pissed off about it? Idiots!
@andrewhussey45384 жыл бұрын
@@SpaceCattttt Yeah, the same happened with Dream Theater ages back, they had a gig somewhere and used (if memory serves) the anniversary or something to play Metallica...I think it was the entirety of Master of Puppets because it was such a foundational album for the members of the band and all sorts of people got really upset. Most were cool with it, hearing virtuoso level musicians playing stuff that moved them when they were young as a point of respect to the band they loved and people were upset because "I paid to see a dream theater show, not a cover band". Really don't get the Fantomas thing...what the hell are you even GOING to a Fantomas show if you are bothered by experimental music? That's pretty much their entire schtick, if someone wants to hear catchy songs with Patton go see a FNM or Peeping Tom show, but if you know the band enough to buy tickets and then get upset when they play like Fantomas, what the hell...that's like paying to go see a BB King show and then getting pissed off because it's all blues music, that's what he did. I'd absolutely kill to see Fantomas, I've been playing guitar for about 25 years and I can't describe how difficult it would be playing a whole set of songs with that level of variation...they're even more off the wall in some ways than Bungle, flipping styles mid-song on a dime multiple times over, keeping all that straight in your head is just amazing, one person losing their place for a moment would throw the whole thing off, you'd need to know your songs and scales inside out and backwards and just be incredibly well rehearsed or it would be a nightmare. I'm hoping this mini-tour is in anticipation of something longer, I was a bit young when Bungle was around, there was nothing like what we have today where I can follow a band and be notified right away when a show came around, you just would stumble across something in Kerang magazine or on a flyer announcing a show if you were lucky, or by word of mouth and then pray you could get your parents to pay for a ticket, that it wasn't sold out and then get to the show so I just never had the luck...but if they decide to do a full tour then I am so fucking on that when they come here

OMG I cant believe you did this song! Wow thanks! "Dead Goon" is another good one or "Girls of Porn" but all their transitions dont make much sense without the other songs around them. Your reaction was hilarious. Its like getting hit with a musical truck

Same. In fact, first time I ever heard Bungle was at a live show when they were touring this album. All I knew about them before that was that Mike Patton wore a Mr. Bungle t-shirt in FNM's "Epic" video and I read somewhere that Bungle was his band in high school. I had no idea what to expect and that show blew my mind WIDE open. Since then, I've seen them (and Faith, Fantomas, etc) a bunch of times and have been lucky enough to chat briefly with Mike on a couple of occasions after shows. I'm sure I came off as an idiot and asked some dumb questions but he was super cool. Favorite musician of all time, hands down.

I'm 42, and I've had to buy several copies of this album because I kept wearing them out. It's beyond bizarre to see Mr. Bungle getting this attention all of a sudden. You're not the only one reacting to this lately. Weird wild stuff.

Your reaction is exactly what is to be expected. lol This particular album is a crazy mix of jazz, metal, rap, video game and pinball sound effects, human noises, movie clips, porno lines and sounds ("Girls of Porn" will blow your mind) and more. The album was inspired by a comic book called "Cotton Candy Autopsy" (go look up that bit of insanity some time)...and the whole album is intended to have a circus vibe. It is essentially a way for the artists to just experiment and try really out there musical ideas. You have an incredibly open mind when it comes to music, and that is the perfect place to be at when listening to Bungle. An open mind and a sense of humor...and let them take you on a crazy musical journey.

I saw a Top Ten list of lead singers who can "sing you to sleep and scare you to death" and Mike Patton was definitely on that list. A truly underrated voice.

What you listened to was a band way ahead of thier time, with the freedom to blaze thier own trail...this band gave birth to bands like limp bizkit, korn, slipknot, lincoln park and more. Very powerful, but smart enough to stay under the cookie-cutter radar of everything that followed because it was never about being mainstream, but about undermining the BS pop culture corporate garbage everyone is used to. And more! Check out the faith no more cover songs video!
