I was the young guy in the shop years ago. Thankfully my leads and bosses kept me motivated by "giving me enough rope" and i was instrumental in some process advancements. Now, 30 some years later i am a supervisor who remembers that and i have a couple of young guys that ive kept motivated, which can be stressful at times lol. But they are the future, let the ones who have the ability have some rope and watch over them and watch the progress. Its so satisfying.

Great interview. I love the subject matter. As a former CNC machinist and instructor at a community college, you hit the nail on the head, getting young people interested in the trade and keeping them satisfied being in the trade once they get the training. I would love to hear more on that subject.

HOL UP 🤯 This madman eliminated needle bearings out of roller lifters and instead replaced it with a fluid film bearing like you'd find on camshaft and crankshaft mains. And they ended up being almost indestructible as a result. 😮

I seen a Dodge Viper Engine reliabillty test happen in realtime. It ran for 24 hours maxed out and when it stopped it almost melted on it self it was solid red hot.

The best screwmachine built is a Brown&Sharpe it runs with cams with an autofeeder.

Broken head stocks on bicycles brings back memories. Had a full suspension bicycle that weighed a ton and I thought it would be good to jump. Something had to give.

We did same in early mid 70s. Schwinn bike with best forks with 10 speed forks cut off, and hammered then drilled on. Great times. All free out of the garbage we would find our bikes and projects.

Never understood why Americans never built inline odd number cylinder engine to offset balance. The Swedes and slow speed diesel companies do this for efficiency. Thanks ❤

How much pressure does it take to lubricate that bearing in the lifter?

Gauge pressure is not the key. Enough oil supply is the key.

@@hiddenhorsepowerpodcast Thats the entire reason I run Mellings HV Oil pumps for many years in my small block Chevy's - NEVER had an oil issue or pressure problem, usually they run 60 to 90 PSI (temp dependant) - Now that I have more information on motor oil, (Thank you Lake Speed Jr !) I will be changing my oil to his recommendation.

Want real hp get dohc motor drop push rods and the valvetrain of the 5os. Yes they can make power but never last. Smaller lighter more efficient engines can make big hp and last 10 times longer. This would be like kuds going back to flip phones and speak and spell. Why? Get in 22st century car makers from usa.

Nah... want torque? Ditch the DOHC. "Lasts 10 times longer.." NOPE. The 12 feet of timing chain, the guides, and the tensioners WILL be shot before 100,000 miles. Also, I like to NOT have to spend $3000 to cam up my engine, and have to replace FOUR cams and the ridiculous timing setup. DOHC?? 👎

Lol stroke does torque not 2 valve pushrods. do you know anything about engines? and timing chain on dohc last a goid long time. Old push rod has no adbantage not one over dohc Not mention dohc can rev much higher make more hp and torque per cubic inch. Only race series do.inated by old push rod motors are Nascar and dirt track, neither what you call tech series. Basically stuck in 60s.
