I was a frequent WDW/Magic Kingdom traveler in the 90's, so before they finally got rid of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride in Fantasyland I managed to record a full copy of one of the classic attraction ride tracks. This ride is terribly missed, and went extinct in 1998. I know that based upon other videos on this tape, this was filmed somewhere between 1996 and 1998 on a Hi8 camcorder.
Nowadays, this is where Pooh's Hunny Hunt (another dark ride) now lives.
Video camera quality wasn't the greatest back then, so it's dark - no really good, bright copies exist because of this. But if it's a trip down memory lane you're interested in, this should make you happy.

Incredible ride stop in the train tunnel. The car paused in exactly the right place for us to see the light actually moving forward on its overhead rails. Then the light turns on a second time, I would assume because the car happened to stop directly on top of the switch that activated the effect. The long, uninterrupted period of the indescribable warbling sounds between the tunnel and the hell scene is also really nice.

Yes! I was totally geeking out watching this ride thru video. And with such a long portion of the wonky audio in the train tunnel heard here, I think a reconstruction of it could be made with all the ride thru videos that exist on YT now. From what I can tell it’s a loop that’s about a minute long.

Very good quality! And that is unique to see things stopped briefly in the tunnel and to see better how that whole effect worked. I think the only kind of video I'm really still hoping might surface would be a Nightvision recording because that capability was there in the 90s and I'm amazed we haven't see one WDW Toad recording that way yet.

Thanks for the video! If you didn’t know this already, one of these ride vehicles is at the Co-op store at Disney Springs. You can even sit on it!

I love the weird Pink Floyd like sounds in the train tunnel I wish there was a clear recording of that sound

I never rode it, but from what I understand: in person, the effect of the plywood figures/props in the black light in the dark was a lot more realistic looking in person/than it appears in these videos. Also, there was a cartoonish charm to it.

@@matts.6904 yes you got it down. Just the simple sound effects make it nostalgic. And the turns make it thrilling!

It was pretty primitive compared to most rides today. Kinda like what you'd find in a fun house at a local amusement park but it was soooo fun. Absolutely one of my favorite rides as a kid!!

I think that was the charm - it was 'innocent', if that makes sense.

I love Disneyland's for its history, but I love how unique this one is for having two tracks with entirely different stories, like how one has Mr Toad die escaping jail while the other has him get hit by the train still driving around cause he never got caught. I also find it interesting how the cars had two rows as opposed to Disneyland's single row. I hope they bring a spiritual succesor to the parks with having another dark ride with different paths

It was an interesting difference between this one and Disneyland. It was well loved, but honestly I liked the California version better. I just wish they did something better than Pooh with the space.

@@WorldscapeScenery i also forgot to mention that this is by far the best video where I can Winky perfectly. Very crisp indeed. By chance did you get the other side? If not, I appreciate this video either way.

"Number two: Don't eat right before you go into Mr. Toad's Wild Ride." - Unnamed big brother, "Voice of Experience" promo for Walt Disney World, 1995, as shown on that original home video release of _The Lion King_ That then-boy wasn't kidding! No, I never went on that ride there or anywhere, but judging by other videos I've seen (namely in DisneyLAND), I have that idea.

The fact that you remember this is incredible because everytime I hear the name of this ride I think of of the Big Brother on the advertisement from the Lion King. Only Real Gs remember. And you are a Real G. 😂 I thought I was the only one in the world who remembered. Nostalgia 😢

it’s hard to tell in these videos but did this version also use blacklighting, and did the sets kind of glow like Disneylands too?

I attended this ride back in 1993 when we came from Japan. As a child, I thought Mr. Toad was cute, and I wanted to meet him when we exited. When we went to hell at the end, I was so shocked and scared, that I cried out for God to save me, and I wasn't a sinner. Nevertheless, it was a cute ride.
