Honestly,!!!! I saw another comment say that there was plenty of warnings but they still watched it and he should apologize:)))) like for what? The title in itself should be more than enough warning for someone who’s triggered by that content

I think people are severely overreacting from the situation. He can’t appeal to everyone and he isn’t responsible for others’ triggers as well (despite him already warning others not to try it at home. He wouldn’t just do the video for no reason too). He gave the warning to others right from the start as well. If they saw the title, they can just pull away from it. People may be sensitive to stuff but “canceling” him over that video is so unnecessary. Twitter is also a toxic place which wants to take on anyone. He mentioned that he did it because of a medical condition.

As someone with an ED, yes. Completely agree. I'm currently in a better place and I was able to watch it just fine but if I was in a bad place, one look at the thumbnail and title and I would simply ignore it. It's just common sense and I wish more people could use it.

LITERALLY THIS. Thank you!! As someone who used to have an ED it pisses me off SO MUCH when people act like they need to shelter every single person from every single little thing that might be a trigger. If you suffer from depression, it’s not the world’s responsibility to avoid topics that trigger that depression. Same with EDs. It’s your responsibility not to hurt your mental health by avoiding problematic spaces.

He was doing a water fast. Humans have been fasting for spiritual, cultural, and health reasons forever so I don't see a problem with his video. Your triggers are not other people's responsibilities. Don't watch videos that clearly tell you the (triggering) context in the title. Tons of people fast like this all the time. Including for religious purposes. Not to mention he had plenty of people monitering him. And sure, he ended up explaining his situation, but he shouldn't have to. He makes the content he wants, if you don't wanna watch it, dont watch it. Let's not act like Mr Beast is problematic.. cause that just ain't it.

Exactly. I used to be just like this. I have PTSD from being SA'd on and off throughout my childhood and if anyone brought up the topic, said things without censors or made jokes about that stuff I'd be so pissed. People need to learn that your triggers are not their responsibilities. It is YOUR job to heal yourself, not the world's to walk on eggshells around you. It's harsh, but its the truth. If you don't actively heal or take steps to exclude yourself from situations that will trigger you or combat your intense reaction to triggers, you will live a fearful, miserable life. You don't have to be perfect in your healing but don't blame other people if they aren't absolutely doing it to antagonize you.

Exactly but most people don’t like taking responsibility for their own actions. They want to blame their problems on everyone else. As long as society keeps catering to them this will only get worse to the point that we can’t do anything without triggering someone and getting called out for it.

The title alone should be enough to know it could be triggering if you have an ED, and i feel like it’s safe to assume that if a video is about not eating, then there’s probably some sort of acknowledgment of the weightloss aspect. I have a history with ED, i saw the video come up, figured it probably wasnt for me and chose not to watch it. Moved on with my life unbothered. It’s not realistic for a content creator to be able to avoid every single possible trigger in existence in every single thing they make. Plenty of people make videos about fad diets, fasting, etc and their effects on the body. You know from the title what the video is. At that point, it’s on you to avoid your triggers.

A key part of MrBeast's channel is him testing his endurance i.e. staying underwater for 24 hours, being buried alive for 2 days etc so I genuinely think this was just another way for him to push his body to the limits. I don't think there was any ill intent with the video. However, I can see why it would be triggering for those with EDs so a bit more explanation as to why he was trying this challenge and his crohn's disease would have helped. At least he was being monitored closely throughout and was very honest about how difficult this experience was and the side-effects.

I’ve struggled with it myself and still do to this day. In therapy they’ve told me I have to overcome and find what my triggers are as the world won’t censor itself for me. If you have something like this you have to learn what triggers you into that state and avoid said thing or overcome it. It’s not other’s responsibility to cater towards 1 person simply because it causes a negative reaction in you.

About the cake situation, multiple people were approached about making the toilet cake not just the one on TikTok. For her to call Jimmy out was just wrong because sending a video showing you can make the cake was an audition, not a confirmed you are making the cake for the video. Like don’t get me wrong, the cake looked good in the TikTok but assuming that Jimmy didn’t approach other creators as well was narcissistic of her. She isn’t the only cake decorator out there. Like I understand if there was a slight misunderstanding but you sort it out privately first not bash him online.

As an artist, I have to disagree, so let me show you my perspective: There is a difference between a open call and someone approaching you to do something for you. Art is not cheap, whether we talk about oil colors and buying art softwares (that's me!) or buying lot of fondant and cake utensils. He knew her skills and probably knew she was capable of doing that. So to go to all these artists and say "Hey, I like your work, can you do this for me, so you MIGHT get paid!" seems disrespectful to me. :/ In the end, I see this as a commission and looking at the size and needed resources, that was probably really expensive to make. I don't think it was I'll intent, but I often see people asking for freebies or cheap prices, since they don't know how much (unpaid) time and money goes into it in the first place. So if I get approached from someone who already knows my work, asking me basically for a free commission, I would kindly show them the way out.

@@finyafuxfell3031 I am also an artist so I totally understand the struggle with supplies. It’s actually why I don’t use my traditional art supplies that much. Heck the amount of times I made props for a church thing and got nothing for it. I do understand that there was a lot to the cost and at the very least it should have been compensation for the prices of supplies but I’m not entirely sure about the entire process that Jimmy’s team did for this but yeah it was a bit messed up. It’s a very unusual situation for the artists to be in. I don’t even remember the artist who made the cake being credited to begin with. They just had a unique frosting style that fans recognised. All in all. Compensate for the costs of supplies. I know time is it’s own cost and whatever discussion made between the artist and the buyer should have been made clear before any sort of production of any skill is started Credit artists

ive had a severe eating disorder for 5 years that nearly killed me, thankfully ive gotten the help i needed and was officially discharged from my clinic in 2020, yup linn dara, personally i don’t see an issue with the video, again he did state multiple times not to attempt it, had the aid of medical professionals and didnt glamourise it in anyway, he actually displayed the struggles that depriving your body of food can result in. I understand that not everyone who has struggled will have the same perspective as me, eds can be very personal with a verity of different reasonings and methods so i’m not attempting to speak on the issue in generalised way, simply stating that even with my history and watching the video in full i personally was not offended or put in any kind of uncomfortable mindset. Again, in my opinion i believe the weigh ins would be a thing that would come naturally hand in hand with the videos premise. Stay safe and if you are struggle please do get help, its the best decision ive ever made, I have a new, happier and healthier outlook on life that I would of never been able to achieve without the nourishment of food

If you’re _so quick_ to relapse then it’s your responsibility to avoid triggering content. Sorry not sorry, you are solely responsible for maintaining your own mental health. The world doesn’t owe only you a safe space. I used to have a pretty bad ED and the way I kept myself healthy is avoiding situations that could trigger it to start again. Same with depression and anxiety - I’ve kept it pretty under control because I LIMIT MYSELF to situations where I’m not relapsing. Seriously. In a world where we still have Eugenia Cooney, ED Queen Galore, still on the platform despite her harmful content, y’all getting pressed over MrBeast not only having medical professionals on call but getting checkups every day to make sure he’s still alright is the most ridiculous thing anyone could be mad at.

But its twitter, what are we expecting from people on twitter? That shit should be deleted 🙄

Mr. Beast could literally do no wrong. His videos are about testing your body's limits in a challenging way, whether it's "who can stand on a rope the longest", "who can swing the longest", "I stayed in slime for 24 hours", that igloo challenge, and just numerous other challenges. I honestly don't think he meant any harm and he corrected the situation with that baker. Mr. Beast is literally the LEAST PROBLEMATIC KZfaqr in existence and he does so much good for the community like feeding the homeless, buying teachers classroom supplies, saying businesses that are about to go under and so, so much more. You have to give thia guy some credit, he wouldn't hurt a fly. And that is the overwhelming view in the comment section for a reason.

He put a warning at the start of the video. Water fasting is common as a ‘detox’ option, or a reset diet. There are also other comments mentioning other reasons it’s used. He had professionals checking his health. If you’re dumb enough to click on a video that has a ton of warnings that’s on you, not him.

I feel like of someone just watched the first few seconds of the video they’d already know whether or not they would be able to handle it. He explicitly said he’s not going to eat….if you still choose to continue the video after that then that’s at your own jurisdiction. I don’t really see anything wrong with the ppl on twitter just potentially warning others but to blame him for triggering others is too much. He is not responsible for what others find triggering. I’d say the only time someone truly has to out a TW is if there are flashes of light in the vid.

I have been in recovery from anorexia for the past 10 months, in that time I have been hospitalized once, been at 2 residential treatment facility’s, and just discharged from 16 weeks on EDIOP, so this topic hits close to home for me. But personally as much as I do not agree with the overall idea of his video, I appreciate how extremely aware he was of his own health while doing the challenge. Also how much he vocalizes the extreme negative impact starvation has on one’s body. So as much as I do not like the idea of the video I think jimmy handled the video with very wise and careful thinking. And clearly did not intend or make much harm by positing the video.

I mean I could see how controversial it could be but I mean it reminds me about the Demi Lovato situation where she got triggered over the guilt free cookies. At the end of the day you are responsible for your own triggers and if seeing a video that says “I didn’t eat for 30 days” triggers you then don’t watch it. I watch a lot of true crime cases and while stuff doesn’t trigger me, there are some subjects that are too much for me and if I know I can’t handle that then I don’t watch the video or listen to the podcast.

I understand the mixed feelings. I battled with ED for 7 year actively, and now that it's been 6 years I still need constant reminders that eating is good for me when I feel like slipping. A video like this is triggering for sure but the warning is in the title. I understand the struggles of trying to eat when your mind says no, but everyone needs to take accountability for their actions. If the title itself is triggering (at least for me it was) then that should be the key for not watching the damn video. I haven't watched the video because I know that for me it's a slippery slope, but if it keeps track about what not eating does for your body it's a great learning lesson for those who don't have first hand experience from having an ED. Not saying it's the greatest subject for a video but how else can one learn unless someone else does it first and shares the experience.

As someone with an ED, I agree that it’s not Mr Beasts responsibility to make sure you don’t click on a video that could be triggering. However, I worry that this video could spark the idea of not eating or an ED in someone who otherwise, may not have considered starving themselves. Especially with the weigh ins and body checks

Twitter’s always full of it. All intent was transparent. Can speak on the subject. I feel for his struggles 🫂 One could argue the same points for people such as Nikocado, mukbangers, obsessively fit people (those who aim for health but go too extreme), etc, especially those who participate in unhealthy practices with no warnings, transparency, deceit (such as faking illnesses), medical professionals monitoring, etc, which imo would be more valid. Idk man. There’s always something shitty nowadays, huh? :( Always something bad :( I just hope Mr Beast recovers well and soon as possible 💜
