Just 6 months ago I made a video about mrekk's dominance as the rank 1 osu! player in the world. Back then, things were crazier than ever before. But in true mrekk fashion, that was only the start of what was to come. Since then, mrekk has done things that no other player can even dream of doing. He sets plays at an unmatched rate, improves faster than any other player, and seemingly breaks the pp system whenever he wants to. By far the scariest part about mrekk as a player is that we know that if he really wanted to, he can set any score in the game. There is no other player that has the capabilities of doing so quite like mrekk. No one has the score setting capabilities that mrekk has. We have never seen a player like mrekk. He dominances as the #1 osu! player transcends what is considered to be possible, and at this rate, mrekk is going to break every single record osu! has to offer. Soon enough, we might be hailing mrekk as the greatest osu! player of all time. What exactly has happened in the past 6 months? Well, let's find out.

@@yodaonket2955 Oh for sure, Whitecats monthy play count is so low compared to the majority of the top players, with him rarely reaching 1k plays a month. He could be playing offline aswell, but even then most top players have months with 5-7k plays.

As a 2011 osu casual player, i cant hide the fact that i'm a bit sad that cookiezi's 900+ #1 days record will probably be broken by mrekk. But at the same time i cant deny the fact that this guy is clearly the new goat. Good job mrekk, show us how high you can go ♥

mrekk is absolutely fucking absurd. the fact that osu is currently witnessing what is probably the greatest player to touch the game is just crazy. but what's even more crazy, as you said, is that's not him at his absolute best. if he played at 100% only god knows what absurd plays might be set. first 1.3k PP might become reality, and maybe even 1.4k, but he'll make 1.1 and 1.2k seem like just your average play. maybe we'll also see the first 11 star FC as well. his skill range is out of this world, it's already absurd how he's got pretty much 5 times the amount of 1k PP scores that other top players have without even trying too much. the dude set 7 1k scores in one day and brushed it off. pure insanity tl;dr: mrekk is a fucking alien (edit) holy shit the madman actually pulled off a 1.3k, which is also a 1.6k choke. bruh

I remember when Mrekk jokingly asked in a tournement if he can play the whole pool in dt because otherwise it's simply boring to him. And the whole lobby consisted of top 50 players and the mappool was 7,5*+. Their reactions were hilarious

I think some people have grown stale of mrekk's HDDT's scores at this point (including me), partially because it's already such a saturated skillset and it's only so entertaining seeing people play maps that are basically 15-30 seconds of raw difficulty and like a 1-1:30 of filler lmfao. That goes for other players too tbh. He's an incredibly versatile player still, and has even put out some nutty HR plays lately, but when it comes to pp farming, HDDT farming will always be the superior option because of time allocation (faster resets), and imo it still isn't nerfed enough to properly balance it out with top level HR plays (many of which mrekk probably finds more impressive than a number of his 1k+pp HDDT scores). It also probably doesn't help that combo scoring absolutely dicks HR marathon score grinds because your score is literally useless if you miss halfway compared to like 90% in the map lol, so it just doesn't incentivize players to play them as often.

I wholeheartedly agree. I personally despise situations when in a competition, a person is so dominant that the only way to surpass them is to start the competition from scratch, so I sometimes wish mrekk never existed, so we could see some fair and balanced competition lol That cancellable take aside, I'm still happy he does exist, but yeah. I stopped caring for the majority of his plays a couple of months ago, and I hope he plays more HR and less DT.

whenever I see a person that's not mrekk set a 1k, I get hyped. For mrekk I didn't really feel anything toward his 1.1k anymore. That's just how good he is at setting scores lol

This is true and also I think at the same time that the flow aim skillset in general has not really been pushed mainly because of the maps and the players sort of being forced to go down the speed route which will obviously garner more pp and is harder than all the current flow aim plays at the moment that people say are the best (like I think theyre different skillsets for sure but if you're gonna ask me which one is more groundbreaking and pushes skill the most I would totally say Merami's scores over someone like Rupertion or Umbre). In short, flow aimers need to play/farm harder maps + fix combo scaling if they ever wanna catch up to the speed aim/speed players. With that being said I also don't think that means speed or speed aim should be nerfed at all, it is obviously extremely difficult in its own way and I just think that the flow aim skillset is really behind especially when you see things like Cookiezi choking everything will freeze hdhr 1k years ago.

I actually think it’s his best score, he said himself it’s a once in a lifetime kind of score. Stella ruim and united were nuts scores for sure but like an SS on OD 11.1 9.7 star jumps is unimaginable. I think it’s safe to say that he probably couldn’t replicate the score without another thousand or so attempts just because of how tight the hit window is at that OD whereas I could definitely see him recreating and probably improving his acc on Stella ruim and united

i guess motivation is another factor.. mrekk is the only number 1 player who has consistently grinded even after reaching no.1.With whitecat, cookiezi and vaxei we see that all of em lost a lot of motivation some time after reaching no. 1 and slowly slipped off cause there was no point anymore... they were the best. Unlike all of them, mrekk continues to go ham.

We'll probably just keep on going for a bunch of years, I think that at least is safe to say. I mean, look at Guitar Hero, for instance. Sure, it's got nothing to do with osu and the competitive playerbase looks quite smaller, but that game was released a few years earlier than osu and players are still setting scores. Something similar happens with Beatmania, if you will, released in 1997. To me, that's where the fun part is. It'd be super boring if we "stopped" at some point, imo :P

5:00 with these kinds of comparisons it's better to start lower, like in this case other people have only about 10 at the highest tier, when Mrekk has 59 (which is ofc most certainly insane to think about) but starting off at what is already over 300% 2nd place just to go up 50% kind of makes it feel less significant then it is, mayby start off with "10, mayby 20? probably some more right? tbf it's only 59 not that bad right" Still a generally good video, just kinda a tip on what I felt like was understating one of the more significant parts

Tbh. This is actually really depressing, I never thought of mrekk this way, but watching this video, you can just see how domineting he is. And is actually really sad to see that there is no competion for him. Hope that one day, there will be a player as good as him. But this is just unsettling to see.

🤓 Akshually if we used the current pp system, Cookiezi might have been a bit over 3k pp ahead of second place in spring 2013, someone should recalculate that But anyway, imo mrekk will eventually overtake Cookiezi as the greatest ever in a few years once his legacy really sinks in

Another interesting metric would be how many 1k pp plays are set on maps, on which mrekk doesn't have a 1k pp play (i.e., how many plays are there that are better than mrekk), and I'm afraid this number would be depressingly, or impressively, depending on your point of view, low.

soon enough, it'll be a challenge for him to set a 1k+ pp score, not because of skill, but because he set so many that he ran out of maps to set 1k on.

idk how many 1k pp plays WhiteCAt had, but I felt the same way with him, setting 1ks like every WEEK is just a normal thing at some point. (sadly most of his 1ks got nerfed into 900pp scores)
