Uppaluri Gopala Krishnamurti (9 July 1918 - 22 March 2007) was a philosopher who questioned the state of spiritual enlightenment. Having pursued a religious path in his youth and eventually rejecting it, U.G. claimed to have experienced a devastating biological transformation on his 49th birthday, an event he refers to as "the calamity". He emphasized that this transformation back to "the natural state" is a rare, acausal, biological occurrence with no religious context. He rejected the very basis of thought and in doing so negated all systems of thought and knowledge. Hence he explained his assertions were experiential and not speculative - "Tell them that there is nothing to understand.".

😮met UG in 1983 in Bangalore in a small house and continued stay in ug seeong ug morning and evening for next 10 days. After a gap of couple of years ug came to madras whom i rexeoved in airport. UG showed me the house near theosophical society. From that day i began seeing ug everu year in bangalore, madras, Hyderabad and in yercaus. A facinaying jeorney with ug untill he died in 2007.

Namaste Kiranprabha garu...How about a talk show on Jiddu Krishna Murthi garu? He was also a great nontraditional philosopher like UG and his life was a more interesting. He was also never a Guru like UG.. Pl make a program about his life and teachings though he never called himself as a preacher or Guru... PPC Rao.. Hyderabad

I am a great fan of UG (more than Jiddu in many aspects) - and his book - The Mystique of Enlightenment is one of my favorite books of all time. It is unfortunate most people from Younger generation have no clue who this man is and this episode looks like an overall biography of UG the great
