"The Way We Were" was written in 1973 by Marvin Hamlisch, Alan Bergman and Marilyn Bergman the film "The Way We Were" starring Barbra Streisand who also recorded the original version of the song.
"The Way We Were" won the Oscar and Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song as well as the Grammy Award for Song of the Year in 1974.

What never ceases to amaze me is that you can take songs that have been iconic for the original artists (like this for Barbra Streisand), make it your own and knock it completely out of the park , which you do with so many songs - I just love listening to you sing and your interpretation of so many songs, I am 56, my son is 12 and he also loves your music!!

How fitting. Lucy is undeniably the greatest singer since Streisand. I have heard them all live. I am 71. This young lady is the most awe inspiring artist I have ever heard. She still has a long journey ahead. Broadway, film, etc. She will win every award in due time.

Yesterday I placed my wife’s ashes and played two Lucy songs. There were 14 friends and family gathered and I started with a few words and then played “The Way We Were”. After more words it was time for the placement and I choose to play “There You’ll Be” as my sons and I placed the ashes. Everyone was very moved by the songs and I want to thank Lucy and her family and team for bringing so much joy into my life. It was so good to play Lucy’s wonderful renditions of these songs. Thank you Lucy for helping to make our sad ceremony into a very memorable occasion!

Streisand never made me emotional, why is it this gorgeous young lady does. It's more than just aesthetics, there's something in her voice that just resonates at the right frequency to melt you inside. I hope her Dad recovers, seems his heart just burst with pride.....

Certainly a magic on Lucy's voice which is hard to describe!🤩,iv'e sent video's of Lucy to my friends!,though only 1 of them has responded!,don't understand it!🤔,even if the music Lucy's covers isn't to one's taste,you can't be but moved by her voice!💖

Never said she was better or worse than Streisand, who is undoubtedly an exceptional singer. Once you have mastered the the art and are in tune, the emotional connection is largely subjective based on your emotional response. There are pedantic dullards out there who will pick apart her performance, and critically appraise it by direct comparison to established singers - that is the wrong way to assess talent....@@number-1-Saxman
