Original Description:
This tutorial covers how to install Infinity Hybrid CFW on a PSP 1000, 2000, 3000, or Go! This is accomplished by updating to firmware 6.61 and then using a custom firmware of your choice, either PRO or LME, to build a custom firmware file to flash directly to your system. Several PSP models can handle CFW but cannot be patched to permanently load CFW regularly, meaning that every time you coldboot your console you have to re-launch the CFW. Infinity fixes this by combining firmware 6.61 with parts of firmware 6.31 to allow a permanent CFW patch for any compatible PSP model!
I mention any compatible model because there is one model which is not at all compatible with Infinity: the PSP-E1000. If you own an E1000 model - DO NOT CONTINUE WITH THIS TUTORIAL! Infinity does not work with the E1000, you can use any other model PSP to install this firmware EXCEPT for the E1000.
Finally it has also been observed that LME will not stay permanent on a 1000 model PSP. If you have a 1000 model, use PRO CFW and select the PRO option when following this tutorial!

Vegito Charmara I grabbed an extra PSTV when I heard the news. Thinking about grabbing a mobo for my Vita so I have the option when Vita loses PS plus support next year. Sadly missed the memo on henkaku until after I updated and didn't know about changing the mobo until recently.

For over a year I barely used my PSP, and I found it pretty lackluster. Then I modded it and it became my favourite console for the next 4 years until it broke from overuse. CFW PSPs are amazing. I don't know why I didn't buy another one, but since the mod is so easy now, I think I'll have to rectify that.

This method still works in 2019. Thanks for the detailed video. I just modded my psp 2001 model and it works fine and everything went smooth. I ordered a new shell and a much bigger memory card. I was going to buy a ps vita but when i realized there wasn't much more it could do then the psp I decided to go with the psp. These things still run great in 2019!

@@fahadusman1311 Id suggest doing the entire process all over again and following the instructions word for word, if it doesn't work then I'd say you are out of luck . also that psp shell i ordered caused the psp to malfunction and break. Im so fucking pissed off you people wouldn't believe. Luckily I managed to get my hands on great condition FF7 10th anniversary PSP. The shell will not be coming off it unless it needs maintenance.

@Beat guy 777 Pandora is for unbricking PSP 1000s and some 2000s. Go to PSX Place for emulators. Upgrade that baby to 6.60 OFW and then put PRO C CFW on it and then go 6.61 Infinity and call it done.

Word of advise and warning for PSP 1000 users: @ 3:55, for PSP 1000 users, you must use PRO if you wish always boot up with the VHS on. If not, then you must select and boot up LME Launcher each time you start up your PSP. If you choose not to use the PRO, DO NOT select PRO CFW on the infinity screen. You will brick your PSP (To un-brick simply press and hold Home+Select+Start+Triangle+Circle and turn on your devise). If you did choose PRO, on the infinity screen, this is where you will choose PRO CFW @ this part of the video 9:16.

Thank you for the spoken guide. It makes so much more sense when you describe each step. I had to use the Pro version because I'm using a PSP1000. For those trying to flash Pro, every time Mr.Mario launches the LME Installer for 661, you should launch Pro Update.

@@DarrylLipat LME didnt work on my psp 1001. I had to use pro. I dont think you should worry about it. Use whatever works.

I have a near complete PS1 NA set in PBP format (I did it to save space.) can a hacked PSP run those games? If so then I may get one sooner rather than later.. lol Right now my portable PS1 consists of a 10 inch Android tablet with ePSXe and 128GB MicroSD card and a ton of games. With a Bluetooth controller. It's nice really nice but all in one would be even better.

If they're in pbp format and you have the POPSLoader plugin installed on the PSP, it should run them with no problem.

Just confirming for everyone that you should use the pro version for the PSP1000. I've just had a little adventure in firmware flashing because the 1000 didn't want to boot to LME. Not a big hassle, just a little wasted time. Great video mate.

I was using the "quick CFW" for years now, but after all the times I needed to start the CFW manually I just got upset and get rid of all that fear I was of bricking the console when flashing it permanently. My surprise was when I searched that up willing to find a 2009 tutorial and got your video in FUCKING 2018! That was a surprise, and a good one! Very easy to follow, I will defintely use this guide if i get a PSP one day. This couldn't have been any better, its all properly explained. I honestly don't think PSP's are actually cheap, they range from $70 for 1000 and $90-$100 for a 2000 or 3000. I know people who have a PSP but never touch it, if only I still had my PSP from back then.

there's one step in this that had me scratching my head and that is when he said copy the data.mfc folder from maker to flasher .. you actually need to move the file so it's not present in the maker folder .the infinity firmware flasher just stalled at 5% every time so i couldn't get the cfw permanent with that file still in the maker folder for some reason but with that moved it worked flawlessly .. hopefully this might help someone out :)

I remember back in the day when you needed a Pandora battery to hack. I never bought one. I just opened my battery and cut the line or something like that. I was only 10 years old.

I used a tool to convert mine to a Pandora battery and then used it again to return the battery to normal.

8:00 The blue screen of death never showed up to me and the PSP turned off. When I turned it back on, it asks me to enter language, username etc .. and then freezes at the wave splsh screen :( Any solutions ?? (PSP-3004 1A)

So I got as far 6:23 when you talk about the firmware builder and I get this error code that says to ensure updater is for the current model, version and is stored in the correct place. Keep in mind, I have version 6.61 updated so what's going on?

7:25 After doing the Launcher, my PSP boots into 6.61 Recovery Main Menu . Do you know why this happens. Should I just Exit and continue ? FOUND THE CAUSE OF THIS : Was because the PSP was not rebooted. I continued with the procedure -> at 10:15 I pressed the select button, but no VSH menu was seen. Repeated the complete procedure -> same problem. Using a Sony 1GB memory stick pro duo (Magicgate). MagicGate = supported, so it is an original Sony card. Followed procedure to the letter, did not do something wrong. Followed it exactly, what is the cause that it is not working ? Before 6.60 Pro-C2 (not permanent) was installed on this PSP. Installed 6.61 over this firmware to make it original. UPDATE: Tried the other permanent firmware 6.61 PRO-C2 and is working :-) VSH menu will be still there when pressing select. However, I do not get, why 6.61 LME 2.3 could not be installed permanent on the PSP-1xxx PSP.

I had The Matrix on UMD because it came bundled with my PSP. :D It was pretty awesome watching a movie on such a compact device in 2005, although it does look like a bit of an historical oddity now.

Ted Nelson Absolutely. Modded PSP is probably one of the best bits of tech I've ever owned. This video makes me want to get another one. Much better emulating old games on a real handheld with decent controls, rather than a stupid phone screen.

You my man is a hero. I found an old broken PSP in my Nephews stuff and asked for its battery and other stuff but he really didn't knew or bothered, so I took it from him as he said "its scrap" wonder if I can do experiments on it. Order a new battery, the missing back cover and fixed the charger, got it to work and then I found your tutorial :) Vola, now its on the CFW and I can fully use it as it should be used. The sweet childhood memories :) Can't wait to see the look on my nephew's face >:D

@@Agro__ you're supposed to run the custom firmware of your choice beforehand. Run it before first use, and run it any time you reboot until you get to the last step to make it permanent then you never have to run it again.

It's super easy. In this video, he does all of the "hard" work for us. After following the steps in this video, download whichever emulators you want and drag the emulator's folder into the PSP\GAME\ folder. The emulator's folder will likely have a "ROMs" folder. Just drop your ROMs into that folder and you're good to go!

If your on pc, get gpemu. Works perfectly. No steps required. All you have to do is select the.zip file. I recommend romsmania dot com. All are.zip and safe.

I'm getting an error saying make sure the file is in the correct place, where should I have it? It comes up on the verify 6.31 screen. Edit: Never mind, was able to do it with my 3000

i install the pro version and when i try to start the 6.61 update the psp shuts down (my psp don't have the battery and i run it by cnnecting it to the alimentation cable)

Do overwrite my psp with the psp file that is provided in the firmware pack? Also do you overwrite when you copy from LME and paste to root of memory card? what is the root of the card, when you copy and paste does that happen automatically. One more thing, if I choose to upgrade my memory card do I need to do this all over again? Thanks

Hey mate! I have followed the steps but when I reach the Firmware Builder step it starts the process and around 15% in it throws me an error message " 0xFFFFFEDO" whilst mounting the 6.31updater, if you could provide any suggestions id appreciate it! thanks!

hi can you help me i have a psp 3001 which had 660 pro b fast recovery i updated it to 6.61 so now the pro b doesnt work anymore i wanted to install a 6.61 version of pro b but i cant cause my psp is not showing up on my computer i tried 3 different cables and the psp is still just stuck on please wait in the usb connection ive been searching for a few days but i cant find an answer to my problem on any forum can you help me please im thinking of formatting my memory stick from my psp but im not sure it will work Problem fixed all i had to do was take out the mini sd card and use an adapter for it on my laptop

Time's have changed! This is so simple to do now. No more using a pencil to short a lead in the psp phat's battery to bypass security for the flash XD. DARK ALEX U ARE MISSED

Thankfully I never had to do that, haha! Was aware of CFW in the 2.71 days, dove in on 3.03, then once the Pandora method came out it was a wrap. I've modded (and saved) many systems using that!

@@MrMario2011 ive first tried to somehow downgrade my psp go with the 6.60 downgrader, because 6.61 wasn´t supported by any cfw ive found.. it always ended with some kind of error.. then i saw it.. Infinity... but.. every tutorial ive tried on the internet how to install it was different from each other. and none worked.. then after 2 hours of moving and copying files i saw your video and finally your tutorial was the right one... after damn.. ducking.. 2 hours.. XD

I got this too. Just reformat your memory stick and do the steps again. This time dont do the part where he says if your psp is on a lower software. I did this and continued with the video and it worked out fine.

Guys I need help 😭 I was at the end of the procedure when I stated the bootloader (last step) and it sad that the file was corrupted, I will try to put again all the file inside the sd. I hope for the best. Had someone the same problem?

Solution found. Got to the same step and faced the same issue. Failed step takes place in video at @ Formatted the psp. the fact that the system was now running 6.61 infinity didn't stand in the way. downladed cfw pro from this video. follow the steps. good luck. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gtaSirRys8e4p30.html
