The palette swap Marvel characters were not just comparable to boss characters, all of them were hidden mini-bosses you would get before fighting Onslaught if you met certain conditions! Though, Orange Hulk is definitely in a different league from the rest (i.e. he's one of the worst characters in the game).

Not sure if you arent super in depth with the melee scene, but wizzrobe is a falcon that definitely deserves a mention, only captain falcon to win a major, and hes done it twice. The best falcon rn and won a major in 2022 as well as high placements in 2023 and 2024 so far

Tbh, I think he may just be not super into melee. Falcon is the high tier he used for melee. The character is only top 4-8. And the character (for anyone that actually plays competitively) IS FUCKING LAME.

It should be noted that another reason why Kakyoin is so dominant is that unlike Pet Shop, Kak is comparatively very easy to use. He benefits a lot from the Tandem mechanic because it means you can essentially win the game any time you have a bar of super, which is worse since you start every match with one.

As someone who only really dabbled in a few fighting games, the concept of a character taking no hitstun is terrifying and it genuinely stuns me that there are characters who are considered as good/better. MVC truly is a wild world

Going from characters so good they're banned or undeniably Top 1/2 to Falcon in Melee was kinda odd. Loved the section on him but bro isn't even Top 5 in his own game in most people's eyes.

The sub zero thing reminds me of samurai shodown 5 where they removed character variations from 3 and 4, so a decent chunk of the roster either got a doubled up move list or a clone character.

You're definitely right about CVS2 Sagat. He's just THE best character in the game, while many would argue Blanka or Cammy being the best with both sharing the same Groove friendly aspects, they often need roll cancels(though you can do without it) to make neutral approaching them scary. Which is why I would often make the assumption that K Groove Cammy/Blanka/Sagat with Sagat the Ratio 2 is the best team in the game, maybe just under the A-Groove Sakura/Dictator/Blanka team, but the latter team needs execution, brainpower and perfect mastery of Roll Canceling. The former is just too powerful, with almost no shortcomings.

@@zakutenakazumiya1516his counters are super OP, he can grab most Supers in the game for free. Crazy combo damage and stun potential too. RS is killer anti-air, but his real sauce is his Neo Deadly Rave cuz you can cut it short and combo out of it. Something like c.lp, c.lp, c.hp xx NDR (8 hits), c.hp xx hcb+hk = dead or about to die

If you ask me, Blanka is the only character that truly works in any groove and any position, so he has a slight edge over Sagat imo. He has comparable range (slide, cr. st. and nj. HP, cr. kicks, hop HK, etc) and damage, but with the added benefits of much faster movement and probably the best mix in the game (and that's counting Morrigan). Also RC electric is the best move in the game flat-out; it beats almost everything. Sagat is close but no cigar. You mentioned his big size, and the best examples of that are that he can't duck his own st. HP or any hit of Sakura's HK tatsu. I think his biggest meta strength is that he makes teams flexible because even as a ratio 1 he does similar or better damage than most ratio 2s. So you can "cheat" and kinda have two ratio 2s in effect

I’m probably DLC biased but in Smash Bros. Ultimate I would say Joker is the best top tier. Speed of Sheik, fastfall speed increase of 90% like Link, can get up to almost 100% with both Eiha and perfect down throw > dragdown up air loops into back air. Has grounded footstool > down gun as an OOS option that he can also loop. Arsene is not even needed to kill at 90% under side platforms with fair 1 dragdown into jab lock or Fsmash. Downside is that he mostly just has MKLeo winning majors with him, not many can use Joker at max potential.

K-Sagat is probably not the best. His poor RC options in particular hurt a lot; the A-groove exclusive top tiers (dictator/sakura/blanka) kind of get to bully him. As a K-player (cammy/blanka/sagat) I find generally that expert A-sakura and A-bison have broken tools that were never meant to exist and K-sagat is basically an honest character by comparison. When the biggest downside of A-bison is that he can't do two RC scissor kicks in a row, K-sagat just feels pretty weak by comparison.

Loved the vid. Wish more games top tiers got featured like Tekken, KoF, Garou, Samsho, etc. There are a ton of top tiers people love despite their dominance. Though some of the character choices for the other games threw me off a bit. Was expecting characters that dominated their respective meta similar to how Kakyoin did in HFTF. Like in MvC1 Strider or in Umk3/Trilogy Human Smoke. In MvC1 Gold Warmachine and other secret characters often have a negative stigma due to some of their questionable design. However, despite their advantages, Strider ends up outclassing everyone in that game because of his Orb super. Which shuts down just about everything if the player knows what they're doing. He's practically the "Vergil" of MvC1. In Umk3/Trilogy Human Smoke is one of the most well known top tiers. This is because he is basically an enhanced version of Scorpion. He's way faster, more safe and is a combo monster. Everyone tends to look past his dominance simply because of how fun and cool he is.

Cool video, but I would argue that the king of Melee's player expression isn't Falcon, it's Fox. Unless there is a significant skill gap between the falcon player and their opponent, there are some tools that they just have to use if they don't want to put themselves at a severe disatvantage, mainly stomp knee and techchasing. He does offer a lot of freedom with comboing, as showcased by n0ne, but his gameplan is ultimately pretty one-dimensional. Meanwhile Fox can play both offensively and defensively very well, offers as much freedom with combos as Falcon (especially when taking shine into account), and also has strong kill confirms (in up throw up air and up smash) and techchasing on certain stages. Watching n0ne and Wizzrobe is like watching a good F1 racer and someone really good at parallel parking, but watching Moky and Leffen is like watching two completely different vehicles.

I decided to play Capcom vs SNK 2 and use the top tier Sagat. I used the N groove. I got a finest ko, defeated the sub boss Bison, got to the secret boss Ultimate Rugal & defeated him without continuing 😀

Trilogy Sub-Zero is a really interesting character, also, nice use of Mega Man X music for his segment with Blizzard Wolfang. Sub's one of those guys who's placement seems to be all over the place depending on the game. But he's usually fun.

Honestly about the Captain Falcon sigmit His down air was a spike also, making it not be able to be meteor cancelled. You didn't mention Wizzrobe who is arguably the best Falcon player. His representation hasn't waned since in the last few years, he has been in the top 5 of tournaments or even won tournaments. Also if you were going to use a Falcon, I would recommend 64 Falcon where he was at his best.

12:07 captain falcon in 64 has a touch of death combo and his falcon punch is a recovery and guaranteed combo ender. 64 falcon in melee would be best character in melee compared to melee falcon. What is your definition of high tier? Pretty sure falcon is commonly considered top tier by almost everyone in the community unless you include sheik, peach, puff, etc as high tiers

@@jaxhollenbach8600 The matter is entirely subjective and I can only speak for myself, my friends and my local community, but the concensus that I've always heard is that Falcon is more or less the top of high tier, not quite the bottom of top tier (as Jigglypuff is considered to be). Again, this is all subjective but I was under the impression that lots of people agreed with this sentiment. I solo main Link so I'm certainly not an authority on Falcon.

Technically you can run more than one Sagat if you know the "random select" timing which isnt actually random. Geese would be the easiest because hes the first random character

Great video! But feedback: I haven’t really played the other fighting games so it’s very informative and interesting to watch; but when I see you put capt falcon as the BEST of top tiers for Melee I know factually that’s just incorrect. He’s nowhere near top. So now I don’t know what to believe anymore about the validity of the information presented in the video 😅. And then that makes me question whether to finish it Keep that in mind. Great video

After watching weskeem video. Knox gets the w. Just like kendrick with drake. There was enough smoke to utilize in a battle just like the ez mills manager interview. Scru fans trying to twist the narrative and the round order. Yt battles can be whack and the fanbases can be obnoxious, especially the extreme upchurch and scru fans who are racist and create weird narratives. I felt wierd about wienstein allegations but skeem seem honest and real versus scru is know liar. The toxicity of the fanbases kill a lot of the fun in the beefs. Knox pen is insane. I wish fanbases could be more fair and less toxic.
