Synopsis: Troubled that he has little access to his children, divorced Daniel Hillard (Robin Williams) hatches an elaborate plan. With help from his creative brother Frank (Harvey Fierstein), he dresses as an older British woman and convinces his ex-wife, Miranda (Sally Field), to hire him as a nanny. "Mrs. Doubtfire" wins over the children and helps Daniel become a better parent -- but when both Daniel and his nanny persona must meet different parties at the same restaurant, his secrets may be exposed.

I remember watching this when I was a young boy. Back then it was just a movie, but now being in my 30's, during a rough marriage, this hits deep. A totally different outlook on this movie. Especially having the Depression connection with the late Robin Williams. One of my absolute favorite people growing up. Stay strong friends. 🙏🏻

Your comment made me feel a feeling I didn't know I had. Similar life experiences but mine reaches even further. I loved this movie growing up, but as you said, it was just a movie back then (a really funny one). Now I'm 42, wife cheated twice, at the beginning stages of a divorce, and this movie brings out a completely different feeling in me now. I now feel all their pain and depression. Love y'all.

I still think it is a crime worth investigating. I mean, that same day just prior to the news of him passing away they aired an episode of the Family Guy. And in it we see Robin hang himself. Coincidence? It could be. Or, certain people were in the know of what was going to happen. You can call me a conspiracy theorist if you call everyone else a coincidence theorist. Michael Jackson, on stage talking to an audience and saying something like he will expose some stuff. And voila, he is feeding the maggots. That Boeing guy, the whistleblower. Feeding the maggots. Assange, a journalist who published stuff he had gotten from a whistleblower, therefor should be protected like they also protected the journalists who published the pentagon papers..... And where is mr Assange? Call me a conspiracy theorist all you want. but Robin had a loud voice and a large audience. And said things that might have gotten him special treatment, so to say. I think the entire case smells fishy.

I was living in New York City at the time and was walking down the street and they were giving out tickets for the Dick cavett show. I had the whole day off so I decided to go and who was the special guest but Robin Williams. He was a genius and seeing him live made me appreciate him more than just mork on mork & Mindy. There was a taping of that show and I've seen the tape many times in which he talks about a pirate with a parrot on his shoulder. One can hear a woman in the background laughing That was me. This movie made my husband cry and it broke my heart. His ex wife poisoned his relationship with his children any chance she could. Some of those children don't speak to him often because of it and they are grown and have children of their own. It still breaks my heart that she did this to them and him, he is great father and we have raised 3 amazing children together, 1 birth, 2 adopted, and now we are helping raise one grandson and soon a granddaughter. He is great father, and I'm so happy he got a 2nd chance at showing that.

@@phoenixhopes9284I'm not 100% sure if I liked the movie or not. There was a scene that I really do not like is where Daniel (played by the late Robin Williams) gets yelled at by his boss Tony (played by the late Joe Bellan). He tells Daniel about the shipment was going to arrive in Los Angeles at 6:00 pm. And that's where Daniel introduces his boss to Jonathan Lundy (played by the late Robert Prosky). You can see at the 1:11:52 minute mark, He doesn't look very happy. I was going to think that he was going to tell Daniel to shut up. He is saying, "Shut up, I have already met him. If I am not going to tell you again, This job is going to be taken away. (He leans in very angrily into Daniel's body) Got it?" Daniel says in a nervous tone, "I got it, Could you back up please, I don't like it when you lean in with your anger at me." It ends where Tony gets extremely upset as he gets mad at him as he says, "I can lean in at you very angrily whenever I want, Now get back to work." as he stormed off with his anger. And that's where Jonathan Lundy had to tell Daniel that he has met Tony already. After Tony says, "This job is going to be taken away", It means that he is going to be fired because he wasn't allowed to talk to anybody because he has work to do. This was right after Daniel made a promise to Lydia and Chris not to tell their mom or little Natalie about his secret. But I didn't understand that Chris doesn't want to hug his dad. He did it when he left his wife's house. And yes, They censor the word "Shit" after he and Lydia found out that their dad was in disguise. This was my lease scene from the movie. Why would Daniel wanted Tony to meet Jonathan Lundy again for? I can't believe this movie came out 30 years ago. He called Daniel "smartass" when Daniel asks him about the boxes. Sadly, I have learned that actor Joe Bellan passed away in 2022.

THIS is quickly becoming a classic, the entire cast is amazing, but Robin Williams is the true gem of the movie... The writing, the story, and the direction of this "classic" is superb... I'm 55 yrs old, and Mrs. Doubtfire is one of my all time favorite movies, it's right up there with "The Bishop's Wife"..."The Wizard of Oz"...and "Miracle on 34th Street"... It's among the Family classics of decades gone by, and generations after ours, will come to love it, as we've come to love those other classics we grew up on...just a fantastical joy to watch

Loved watching this again! I used to watch it as a kid but now have a 3 year old daughter and a 3 month daughter. I can understand that it would be very hard not being able to be with your best friends! Fortunately my wife and I are going strong on 9 years! This was a heart felt movie for me

Thank you for sharing this video. This movie means so much to me. When I was 18 I took my young cousins to this to see this movie not knowing what it really was about. My cousins parents got divorced a year or so before seeing Mrs. Doubtfire and the ending really put divorce for the kids into perspective. I remember bawling my eyes out. 😢❤

Can anyone say ANYTHING about this movie other than "Robin Williams is dead"??? That has nothing to do with the movie. If I were in a movie and all anybody could talk about was that I was dead, I'd be like, "wow, really, you don't care enough about my movie to say anything about the actual MOVIE itself?"

Words cannot express my admiration for Robin Williams' talent yet, at the same time, deep sorrow that such an incredibly clever man should decide to put an end to his life.... He co-produced this film so he evidently wanted to bring to light, in a light-hearted manner, the tragedy of so many disrupted families. Thank you, Robin.
