It's weird, and was definitely considered weird by many back in 1993 and if you were a young woman to not just see an older lady checking you out, but to find out it's a man dressed as an older lady doing so. And it was a posh private club where that type of thing was less expected. Her reacting a bit creeped out was understandable.

@EPSGplayer I agree, that was funny that he was using his regular man voice saying that along with telling that woman that he'll pay for her drink in his man voice. He was probably drunk which is why he used his man voice and even if the "Bridges" restaurant scene he got drunk from drinking too much alcohol that he totally forgot he was wearing his Mrs. Doubtfire disguise and returned back to Mr. Lundy's table and even had to cover it up that Mrs. Doubtfire will be the new host of his show.

@@verkaforever It was funny how he used his man's voice probably only because he got so drunk from drinking a lot of alcohol at that bar that he forgot to use his Mrs. Doubtfire voice. In answer to your question, probably he didn't mean to check that woman out but him getting drunk caused him to say something he didn't mean. It's kind of like at the end of the movie where he drank a lot of alcohol in the "Bridges" restaurant and returned to his boss Jonathan Lundy's table as Mrs. Doubtfire only because he got drunk from all that alcohol that he forgot to change back into his men's clothing.

Sure, he probably still harbors some feelings for Miranda (hence his initial jealousy of Stu, which only grew to bitter resentment once Stu was spending more time with his kids than he was), but knows deep down that they’re irreconcilable as a couple.

I liked that even Daniel at some parts was just "This is crazy, why the hell am I doing all this?"

Believe it or not, the actor who plays the bartender is Robin Williams’ older half-brother, Robert Williams, credited as Dr. Toad.

He was never meant to be an evil stepfather, that would have been too cliched. Daniel isn't a clear cut good guy or bad guy, life isn't always black and white.

I don’t know that the movie has a “villain”, but Miranda does cause most of the problems. Daniel was irresponsible from the little we see of him pre-separation, but it seems like she did a garbage job of being a partner to him and communicating what she needed from him and instead of working with him, she just dropped him, took the kids, and ran off to her now-successful and good looking ex. Obviously Daniel’s entire Mrs Doubtfire scheme is (as he puts it in this scene) “beyond obsession”, but he’s a desperate father pushed to his limit because he’s been deprived of shared custody. He’s being treated like an abuser simply because his wife didn’t think he was pulling his weight in the family, but waited to convey that to him until the moment she bailed on their marriage. And Stu, from everything we see, is a genuinely good guy that subverts the antagonist boyfriend/step-father role that these kinds of plots typically use. He doesn’t have full information and is getting half the story from Miranda, but honestly does want what’s best for her and the kids.

Miranda was a fed up mom and wife doing the best she could with a demanding job, 2 kids, and a manchild of a husband. Far from a villain. I wouldn't go as far as calling Daniel a villain but he's responsible for most of his own problems in this movie.

@@kysa35351. The judge set the visitation 2. Dude didn't even have his own apartment. 3. He quit his job on a whim. Any responsible parent that puts feelings aside and thinks about their childrens welfare logically would have reservations about this man being responsible enough with his children for any length of time. Seems like lot of people have a hard time putting their rose colored glasses aside and seeing what a loser Daniel truly was

That's kinda unfair to villianize a stressed out wife who was fed up with her husband's irresponsible actions. there is no "villian" of this story.

Although I used to think he was jealous from 2:40-2:45 seeing his sad face thinking he wished he could go swimming too but, his sad face was only because that guy Stu was probably going to marry Miranda making Daniel himself the reject.

Maybe Daniel finally came to terms that his marriage to Miranda was over and he needs to get his life together. The only reason he was jealous of Stu is because of the man he is to her and the mature, fun-loving dad he is to his kids. Daniel saw his shortcomings during his time as Mrs. Doubtfire and his own immaturity. To him, Stu is the man the he should've been to Miranda from the beginning.
