Thanks man! This was a awesome video. The beauty about analog is that it's still usable and much less complicated for a everyday recreational flyer. keeping it simple. However, being able to own both analog and digital would extend endless possibilities in the skies for FPV pilot .

I'd say dji is much more simple, no vtx tables, no smart audio, you can just click up n down to change both your quad and your goggles at the same time.

Frase,walkie, rusty, and Blackbeard are my homies. Miss them haven’t seen them since Team Drone Adventures FPV Fest. I like that audio tip on dji. You wouldn’t happen to have a link on said firmware would you. I fly both analog and digital. The heavier I’ve gone into 3D the more I’ve leaned towards digital just to shed camera weight and use dvr. But either way I love them both. Hope to rip with you soon brother Steele.

Biggest reason I started with and still fly Tracer is to reduce as much end to end latency while flying DJI. I've never had a failsafe on Tracer or any situation where my control link failed before my video feed.

I still fly analog 5" for fun and freestyle stuff. It just feels better and it is more fun to know what I saw in the goggles and then see the crazy crispy video from the action cam after. Its a satisfying surprise everytime.

For the RC link you should try ELRS on 2.4GHz 500Hz with a good module and receiver you have performance and signal strength at the same time

I didn't really understand the tracer range issues. I don't have bandos here but everytime when my video becomes really bad because I'm behind a small hill or a lot of tree's, i was not even close to a failsafe or even bad LQ 🤷🏻 800mw tbs vtx and 3 or 7 turn helical + Omi on TBS fusion...

@Ener-FPV it's just a question of how far you are pushing into concrete. I have failsafed ELRS, Tracer, FRSky, and Crossfire...deep in concrete...and I still prefer crossfire for that penetration and reliability

I get more of a rush with analog just so much smoother but the 03 type units like the Falcon vista 4:3 sensor 1080p at 120 fps rolling shutter DJI is slowly getting there I noticed you have to slow your rates down to match the slow video feed with DJI I usually run 220 actual went to 180 works great on very clean build and high hz on ELRS 500hz you can almost get there flyable for sure

I think having audio on the drone is super bad ass. Also I like how you can see when the analog signal is getting weaker.. when you fly DJI it just suddenly goes to shit and you're screwed

It doesn't just suddenly go to crap. You can see your bit rate start to get lower and lower and things will start to get blocky and pixelated and that's when you know you need to turn around before it goes black on you

I am still analog, i have a digital quad but it never gets used unless im showing someone new how to fly or the wife wants to screw around.. or i just grav it for fun but i lesrned form steele and i fly super fast with really high rates, and i will not give up my onboard audio! I have an inventory of the important parts to keep my quad going or build more and if i have to I'll repair parts.

I fly analog only. Old School even with old box goggles. Have crappy eye sight, 63 years old and living on a fixed income and enjoying life while it last. I wouldn't know what it was like to have Chrystal clear image and a real dialed in quad. Can't miss what you don't have. Shit I'm still flying on 4 s . 1500 mAh packs. I've seen technology grow so much over the years. One word Anazing !

This is interesting stuff. But as test of feel difference your quads tune afeects latency feel way more than a video system. It will feel faster if you have a tighter pid tune. Were talking about max 10 ms latency difference between analog and dji.

Agree on the tune! Personally I have very low latency on yaw, and make sure to match pitch and roll to within 1ms. Filter latency is also super low compared to most. I also like to match the latency of my PID loop and video system, it works much better for me, even if I have to increase the latency a bit. Control becomes telepathic with everything synced. Analog can have terrible or amazing latency, it’s mostly in the camera and it’s setup, and to a lesser extent the goggles, same for the DJI system it can be great or terrible, depending also on obstruction and interference. You can setup DJI to be better than the average analog.

It is so called WTFOS for DJI V1 goggles and only V1 have working live audio on air unit only. And on both we have full workin betaflight, inav, kiss uktra and ardupilot OSD in fake HD grid. But developer are working on full HD grid for OSD. Allso right now they are doing on telemetry data from OSD to be able to record it and merge it after with video.

Yo Steele my guy! I've been out of the hobby for a few years, as I hit a low in life that caused me to shave to part ways with all of my stuff... Now My buddy got me a used alien, and I noticed the steele PDB has a blown component on it. Well, I really want to build it how my original one was because it was PERFECT (Kiss v2, 32bit escs, steele pdb, etc) but everything is discontinued or out of stock. Would you happen to have any extras youd let go for cheap for a dude getting back into the hobby? You got me into it in the first place homie! The only thing I kept and refused to sell was my OG FatShark goggle case that has the original signatures on it! (You, Umma, Charpu, FGA). Miss the old days man! Thanks if you read this!

I rock analog . I can't afford digital . But regardless everybody's setup and tune is or should be custom to the flyers sense of feel. Steele is a drone master. I'm certain trash is a harsh word especially for Steeles setup. That's like saying Einstein s theory s are useless. Be kind and not to quick to voice opinions for somebody I personally look up to . I fly the same rates as you with Dji and I even switched from my tracer over to the Dji controller to make things easier and I really can’t tell a difference for office park flying

Human brains are very good at compensating for latency. It hardly matters when within 60ms. It's just a matter of habituation. Breaking out of old habits is the only requirement for getting into new ones.

I still use my fat shark with kiss fc crossfire analogue. Still using my 4 yr old drones because I have 7 of them still flying. But the hd is just so clear still learning how to fly it

I was flying my analog setup earlier in the year until my goggles finally gave and died. Guessing I can't complain as they were the original analog Fatshark Dominators (v1) so they lasted pretty well. Be 1,000's of hours on them. Put's me in an difficult place though as only have box goggles at the moment, and while I'm considering the new digital Fatshark Dominators, I certainly not convinced at the moment. Anyway basically grounded myself at the moment while figuring out what I'll eventually replace them with. Surprising how unenthused I am about options in general though.

If you like flying long range DJI is for you. If you like to go fast and freestyle making hairpin turns analog is for you. Latency in the digital FPV is noticeable when you are zipping in and out of obstacles

just today i ordered a new tbs source one frame ,new full stack and im trying the new iflight 1.6w vtx. analog is fine for me. ì work full time and just rip before and after work pretty much. maybe ill switch one day but for now 375ish$ for a 5 inch quad with high quality components fuckin rules. still having endless fun with stuff im just gonna break eventually anyways so for now im not spending more $ on a slightly crisper image. not gonna lie the fatshark scouts could use an upgrade but the car just died so its the trusty scouts through the winter, i dont give a hoot.

I learned on analog like yr and a half ago..i have a demibot with a vista nebula and goggles 2 but the rest of my quads are analog and I always choose analog over digital...unless it's more of cinematic or flying thru trees and extra perpetration is needed and I don't fly fast rates I'm at 900
