If you actually watch the show, the women are just as badass and equal to the men and they do have a woman on the team…a few, actually, as the show moves forward. Each gender on the show treats each other equally. You wanna see some great fight scenes? As the characters get established and the storyline moves forward, the women throw down in this show…each of them do and they are some of the best female fight scenes I’ve seen on tv. It’s one of the few examples where this is the case in tv/cinema.

Man I hated lana in the show, I was so glad when they introduced lois, erica durance is definitely my favorite incarnation so far.

Yup, lana just shows up for a bit in season 8 as well and clamjams lois. Then she gets injected with superpower and kryptonite and just leaves.

Lana was a prime example of the writers not knowing what to do with the love interest character once they burned out the initial romantic tension around season 3.

I honestly think the first 3 seasons were good; not any individual episode necessarily, but as a whole, the first 3 seasons hold up well enough. But then the show was successful, they kept going instead of wrapping up the story in 4 seasons, so they just spun their wheels for, what, 5 more seasons? I think the 4th season actually had a lot of fun episodes, but the 5th season really started to show the cracks. What they SHOULD have done was lift the "no tights, no flights" restriction once the show got picked up for more and more seasons. I think the problems with the show are largely a result of keeping those restrictions that could've worked for 4 seasons or so, but not 8. (Or however many it was; I think 8 but I'm not going to look it up.) I mean, there were other problems, of course, but for its time, it was fine except for stubbornly sticking to the original conceit despite doubling the show's length.

I look at all the CW stuff and it just makes me sad. Can you even imagine how awesome Smallville could be now? If it had something more than a $10 budget?

Love the show, it was the only thing I watched from middle school through most of college.

This was after I'd started watching Arrow, so I may have been comparing it to season 1 arrow's costume.

I still love Smallville. One thing about the show show that is often overlooked, is Lex Luthor's portrayal, and his character development. His decent into madness, is almost as good as walter White's.

But then when they put him in the latest CW crossover, he just says he gave up his powers... again. Totally betrays the whole point of Smallville. I prefer the "Season 11" comic series.
