Back in my teenage years, I and a couple of friends were supposed to be the best of the best in our Karate dojo. We won several competitions, did a number of demonstrations, and were then invited to Japan as part of a cultural exchange with the head dojo of the style we followed. We were tough, could take massive punishment and thought we were God's gift to girls and the martial arts. We started training with a Uechi-Ryū dojo as part of that exchange, and even when working with some of the mid-level sensei, we still screamed like a bunch of little babies when they got their fingers into us. Painful, enlightening and humbling, I decided that I never wanted to get within 10 meters of one of these guys, even if they were wearing mittens.

The technique raised in popularity after supermarkets started charging for shopping bags!

I did this type of conditioning with wooden boards during a saw mill job . I even punched wood into place while stacking to mack the stack even

When you fail to open the jam jar your girlfriend passed to you once, and now have to go through this training to make up for it
