As an African American, it's great to see brown ppl react to a story that connects to your community & heritage. There's increasingly more media that depicts the black ppl in an authentic way & that's led to important & much needed discussions about the past & present of the African American community. You don't see as much mainstream narratives that focus on brown cultures, so it's exciting to me to see other communities of color relating to characters & subjects in media. It's really exciting & goes to show how important genuine representation is!

I also think it's so good for ppl to learn about the histories of ppl other than their own, like how Partition was a big part of the after-show discussion. I watched a reaction to the episode from E-Mans Movie Reviews & he talks about not knowing about Partition & having to look up some info & find videos about it. Like, I think understanding the history that led to the current state of India & Pakistan, or even places in Africa & Latin America, is so important for a better future. It's easy to look at negative things happening in these places & see it as a reflection of the ppl without considering the history of things like colonialism that led to it being this way

@@lilchief1117 Yes. I agree. It seems like more and more TV shows are starting to give more than the standard history that is taught. What appreciate is that the complaints regarding the mosque have nothing to do with religion or faith. Rather, it’s the day to day problem of sexism and misogyny. And Nakia’s story isn’t just “I wore it because I wanted to fit in, that’s it.” It’s: “I wore it because I wanted to fit in, and then I realized that I was happy with the way I looked. Now, I wear hijab because I WANT to. No one was forcing me but me(at the start).”

VP Kamala's name comes from Hindi word Kamal (Lotus) and its pronounced "Kaam-la" while Ms Marvel's Kamala comes from Urdu word Kamaal (Perfection) so its pronounced "Kuh-mala" ..its a slight difference because both words come from similar language and speller slightly similar but mean different and thats why the pronunciation of both names is different..also English doesnt have those extra vowels like in Hindi/Urdu that makes the difference between the words stand out ..so english translation is exactly the same even though names are spelled and pronounced differently in Hindi/Urdu

I'm glad they're letting Kamala make mistakes. She seems enamoured with the glamour and glory of being a hero, but isn't taking the risk and responsibility seriously enough. She got caught up showboating for the crowd rather than making sure the boy was on stable ground, and as a result he fell a second time and got hurt (I'd argue Kamala only managed to cushion his fall due to lucky timing. If she was a second late, it could have been much more tragic). She couldn't have known she'd suddenly have a vision, but if she'd gotten him down quicker rather than getting distracted waving and posing, the vision wouldn't have been an issue anyway.

After recently watching the horrific deconstruction of the "superheroes always save the day" trope in The Boys (episode 1x4 especially), I'm kind of glad to see this reconstruction of the trope, where it's acknowledged that a "superhero" can mess up at trying to save a person, but they still try their best anyway. The poor kid's damn lucky to be alive, all things considered.

I'm really loving the whole cast in this show so far. I love the dynamic between Kamala, Bruno, and Nakia. And Kamala's family could have easily been played off as just annoying or "obstacles" to her superhero journey, but they're all played so endearingly that I love when they're on screen. I also love that Kamala got a classic superhero moment, complete with the crowd of onlookers, but also that her first official save didn't go as planned. Also that nice touch of her talking to the kid to try to calm him down -- something we don't see enough of in the MCU imo. Superheros taking the time to talk to the people they're trying to save. Iman Vellani is such a delight to watch!

Kamran reveals that that’s her mom, thereby insinuating that Kamran’s family is somehow connected to Aisha, the bangle, and now Kamala. So, according to the comics, Kamran is supposed to be an Inhuman as he was exposed to the Terrigen Mist (a kind of mutagenic substance that activates one’s latent superhuman powers). There’s not much information on Bushra (that’s the name of Kamran’s mother in the comics).

The word "latinx" is pretty much an "inclusive" way to refer to Latin-Americans but it doesn't have much to do with pronunciation per se, but more like they're changing our language for something they think would describe us better! So just like you guys said: They're pretty much excluding us by trying to include us by changing our language for what they think is correct... Also it's just a very convoluted term! Except: Kamala put it on her left wrist not right wrist. I think he wanted to make sure she had it and it was her with the powers but missed the 50/50, but that's why he was there with the car in the end : because his mom might have connected with Kamala during her 2 episodes, which happened AFTER the driving lesson chronologically.

It's so great and very convenient at the same time that the normies has South Asians because not only does watching this makes it very enjoyable because it targets the demographic that looks like the cast at the same time we are learning something about what really happened in real history. Really appreciated the background storytelling about the partition.

Love the reaction. Loved the Discussion even more 🙏🏾 didn't know anything about the Partition. Really made wanna Google it and learn more about it. Again 👏🏾 Marvel's really good at bring people together at this point. Last episode was a therapy session. This one was a great show on the religion, as well as a the talking about The partition. Loved it. Also idk if yall noticed but the drones are actually the ones from Tony Starks Eden, which he gave to Spider-Man but he ended up losing it because of the stuff that happened in Far From Home. Edit: I'm afro-latino. And Latina or Latino is perfect.

love the video! it was great learning more about the partition also! I'd like to add that latino/latina/latine is NOT the same as hispanic, since hispanic means the countries colonized by Spain, and also Spain itself, the colonizer, while latino means everyone in latin america, which excludes Spain aka colonizers, and includes the country I am from, Brazil! We are very much latinos, but We were colonized by Portugal and our language is Portuguese, not Spanish, that being said We are Latinos, but We are not Hispanic. We were colonized like all the other latino countries, while hispanic is a term that includes the colonizer.

Black families have the same issues with tampons; I wasn’t allowed to have them while in my parents’ house, and the same was true for all of my friends. Ms. Marvel is doing such a beautiful job illustrating life as a teenager (especially teenage girl) living the duality of cultures that many of us experienced. I don’t share Kamala’s specific traditions, but I relate so deeply to soo many themes!

He's eating what is commonly referred to as Mithai (Mitt-high), but pronounced all at once and the 't' sounds like when you say the word talk. It was interesting to hear about the Partition and the British, what happened for Pakistan was awful and i do know some Indian people that have awful stories from this time, to what happened to their grandparents and great patents .. Unfortunately British history is drenched in distruction and problems they caused everywhere. I am from Ireland and the British caused a lot of problems for us, my great great grandfather was killed by the British during the Irish civil War for fighting for his people when his son was a child and my father almost died in 1970's as a kid from parliamentary groups bombings in Dublin funded by the British government....This unfortunately happened worldwide, i have British cousins that were not even taught about this history in school...At least we live in a very different World now that we can all look at history, learn from it so it wont happen again..Sorry for the rant, the episode just hit a nerve..

As a 36 year old white guy in the midwest, I just wanted to say I thoroughly enjoyed getting all the insight into your culture and backstories. I have literally never heard anything about The Partition before this episode and right before watching your reaction video I looked it up and my soul was crushed. Such a grotesque cluster-f***, born from British incompetence. Still, was very interesting to hear all the insight you guys gave, and how oblivious I've been to it all before now. I'm a couple episodes behind, but I hope you guys continue to sprinkle more personal anecdotes in during the videos. Very much enjoyed it.

As a brown man who grew up in America his entire life, that bathroom conversation with Nakia hit ridiculously hard. “Being too white-washed for the brown kids, and too brown for the American kids” has been such a perpetual struggle for me as long as I’ve been in school. And the fact that she found confidence in her celebration of both American and Pakistani cultures was too inspiring, even for a dude in his mid-twenties. This show is so goddamn real. ❤️

It's been a while since there has been much discussion of what they can call us, for my part it's fine being called Latino/s Latina/s :D And we are currently using the letter E instead of X in certain words, for example; 'Todos' and 'Todas' (which is the synonym of them/they that you guys use when talking about gender) is now 'Todes' and thus encompasses everyone regardless of gender. Generations from millennials to the present are more willing to adapt these new words and ways to include everyone, but we have the obstacle of the RAE (Royal Spanish Academy) which is a cultural institution dedicated to linguistic regularization among the Spanish-speaking world, and if they say no to a new word, the schools ban them :/ and everything gets tangled up like a snowball.
