Thank you for translating into Fahrenheit and inches! I use a Husky 3120xp to mill, and my next project is cutting a 62” diameter hickory with a crotch that reconnects to the main trunk (84” diameter at that point). Your video has been the most helpful of any (and I’ve watched a lot of them)!

I have a 3120xp set up for a double head. As long as you don't hit metal, it will be a breeze. If the log is dry, keep the chain oiled. Lots of fun.

Was wondering if you ever use the helper handle on the end of your double ended milling bars? Recently got one myself aan would be great if someone had a video on setting one up. Great videos , cheers from green bay Wisconsin!

That is some serious power! No other two chainsaws in the world could done the same!!! STIHL MS 880 POWER!!!💪💪💪

Ever heard of an 090?
@Ancient_Iron3 жыл бұрын
@@AdamTrautmanBowling Yes I have! Lots of weight and torque, but ultimately slower... Nice saws tough!😁💪
@em4703 Жыл бұрын
@@AdamTrautmanBowling @adamtrautman2873 It's only so much that torque itself can give. Hp is king in wood cutting, there's only so much resistance wood can create, after that chainspeed and hp is king. You could put a bigger sprocket on the 090, but its still a less efficient saw; hp, torque and rpm taken into account.

There are bandsaw mills cheaper than a pair of 880s...... love it! Hilarious also that you were using a ladder only as the guide. That would make SEVERAL nice tables. Great vid, color me jealous.
@BlaiseBrogan6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Rick, Yes band saw would be nice one day but a cheep bandsaw wouldn't be wide enough for the slabs I want to do.. cheers mate great to have you on the channel. Blaise

(May 23) Since then, we in England have had several weeks of drought with only 2 properly wet days, and my front lawn is going brown, and my rhubarb is flopping and is not making any fresh young leaves.

Man that thing can make some fantastic slabs. But I'm still left with a few questions. 1, still wondering how both saws are kept in sync and 2, the saw bar spans a good distance, how do you keep from concaving your slab? I do think I might build that large but one motor.

@BlaiseBrogan5 жыл бұрын
Richard, sorry for the delay in replying to your questions somehow I missed it. You can hear when the saws are running in sync very occationly you need to stop and re sync. Yes you have to be very careful how you set the mill up to avoid bar sag. cheers Blaise

Quick hack for rolling and adjusting big logs if you don't have a forklift... Screw a wood plank (2"x8"x8' or bigger) on the log perpendicular to the log, the leverage makes it easy to adjust. I've flipped 4' diameter logs easily with this method.
