The actress that played "The head" - Jan in the Pan- was Virginia Leith. She passed away last year at the age of 94. She donated her body (& head) to science, which some find ironic.

I've seen so many movies and shows where it's a head on a table, and it's obvious that the "head" has neck and shoulder muscles because they somehow move their head around as they talk. I respect this actress because she does a good job of not moving her head, even when emoting. I can almost buy the old hole-in-a-table trick because of her acting.

I thought it was pretty nice character development to make the bots the way they were in this episode. It would have been easy to make Crow and Tom they're usual immature selves here, but instead they are all pretty supportive of Mike and honest about not wanting to be left alone in space again. I don't know, I just thought it was a nice touch.

5:50 That sounded like it hurt. Well-done to Frank Coniff for staying in-character! 6:52 For the curious, "gaffers", generally speaking, are responsible for setting up all the lighting on a movie set. The term is thought to possibly originate in the semi-permanent lighting-support structures studios would have in order to allow for the various lighting arrangements required by a vast variety of projects, and the long "gaff" sticks (familiar to boaters and fishers as a long rod with a hook on the end for, amongst other things, catching and reeling-in lines to hook- and trap-lines that are left floating on the surface of the water for retrieval) they used to move the lights around quickly, without having to climb up into the rafters to do so. "Grips" are responsible for the camera and affiliated equipment (eg., dolly-tracks, etc.), and their name is thought to possibly derive from the era of hand-cranked cameras mounted on tripods, which could often require many large, strong men, especially on difficult ground, to "grip" the tripod with sufficient strength to keep it from swaying from the cranking and thus ruining the shot. Also, "foley" is literally one guy's name, "Jack Foley", as he essentially invented all of modern movie-sound techniques single-handed. Quite a guy!

It always struck me as funny when they referenced movies the writers had already screened but hadn't aired by that point. Like Tom's "But, with radar!", even though Radar Secret Service was still seven episodes out. Or the numerous Joel-era appearances of Willy the Waffle, even though we wouldn't get to see "Case of Spring Fever" until the second to last episode of the original run of the show.

I don't know if it was intentional, what with every other scene making an excuse to show a woman in her underwear, but there's a very poignant theme of women having their agency over their bodies taken away by men, often men they trust. There's catharsis in Jan's vengeance, and of sparing another woman from being used the way she was used.
