This happened at Musee Musicals store on Mount Road (one of the oldest musical shops in Madras). This trip was arranged by me as part of the MSV Unplugged concert held at the Museum Theatre on 28th September 2008. A life time opportunity for me to have this Emperor of Melodies on the Grans Piano on the stage live!!! MSV himself opted to come along with me to try his hands on the Piano after almost 3 decades....The purpose of my birth with this event was achieved....

What a program it was! I enjoyed every bit of it accompanied by my wife who is no more now. The way we both of us enjoyed can’t be expressed by words! I had never seen in my life this kind of fulfilling musical concert and I am sure I could never in rest of my life. When I come to know that you were the one who arranged such a wonderful concert I bow my head with my folded hands! God bless you!

Please dont miss this point - he played this in 2008... and he was born in 1928....He crossed 80 when playing this - and for a man that age , look at his finger movements, only to understand what all he would have done with the piano 40 years or so before - when he was at his peak.

I have been a devotee of this Legend and HIS music for the past 48 years and to tell you all honestly, nothing, really nothing can come near a shade of this little giant. The melody he is playing from 0.40 is the skating music from 'Anbe Vaa' and he is testing all the chords that comes in that melody. Later he has changed to his imagination. Even the notes he played for the skating music is not like the original. That is what happens to a creative composer. He never remembers.

the genius himself playing on the keys.. what a treat to our eyes. wow. amazing.. they play with the pianos like toys... the chords, majors, minors and everything is on the fingers..genius.

MSV IS GOD OF MUSIC. No other music director has used piano in film music like HIM. Literally thousands of hidden gems in his compositions ( Priceless!). Here we can see and hear how in a matter of few seconds and totally spontaneously he is transporting us to an ethereal world of musical bliss. I wish this recording lasted for some more time. Thanks a million Mr Vadiymsv for giving us this rare glimpse.

Thanx Mr Ashok Vaidyanathan. Very Proud of you. I always feel proud to be an ardent MSVian. I got the golden opportunity of talking to him over phone for nearly 20 Minutes in 2003 / 04 around which time a series of his interviews with his film industry faternity was kept telecasting by JAYA TV and during this series SPB, veteran Director K Shankar were seen participating. But, Unfortunately, the series was abruptly discontinued for reasons unknown to us.

What do I say......... GODLEVEL... Come back to composing MSV... You ll reign again.....Would definitely like to see you do this kind of unplugged stuff on his songs and release a cd..... Please do a collaboration with AR Rahman or Ilayaraja and release something.............. My fantasy would come true......

What an intense passion this legend had got! Age never stopped his enthusiasm & passion towards music composing. Nalladhor Veena seidhe adhai nalam keda poozhudhiyil erivathundo? Thamizh film industry could have still used this maestro's expertise better I suppose.

He was born of malayali father and Tamil mother. He was born in Kerala in Palakkad and lived there till he was 12 years.. then after father's death he shifted to ramanathapuram , his mother's home

Ilayaraja don't know to play Keyboard. Watch @39.19 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oq-bhK5orsvGp58.html In Neethane pon vasantham interview he was given Piano and was asked to play but he couldn't play though he used harmonium in tune composing. But M.S.Viswanathan the Real Genius plays Piano easily.

ilayaraja writes notes for any instruments while just thinking the sounds from his mind and he never went wrong or need of correction. Only few can do this

@@harishmencheri8995 yes...ur crt... Ilayaraja has high imagination power...he write notes...from his mind. Without playing....but still pianist feel difficult play his notes....and basically Ilayaraja is a guitarist....who have won gold medals 💥💥💥💥no one can play guitar like him...

@Phoenix Why you people always have to compare every single thing? Both M.S.Viswanathan and Ilayaraja are genius in the their own ways. Please try to enjoy and feel proud that we are born in their era to witness their beautiful music. Quality of a composer is not in how many instruments he can able to play. It is in how many hearts he can able to touch with his music. Both of them have touched billions hearts with their music. Any fan of MSV insulting Ilayaraja or fan of Ilayaraja insulting MSV is disgrace to those legends. People like you and many others (Some so called fans of MSV and Ilayaraja) has been posting many idiotic comments like this are should be ashamed of yourselves. Grow up people. If you can't enjoy someone's music, just leave it. No one forced you to listen. Get a life.
