Although it might go for a while before stopping, it's not the Bessler way.

Is this the hillbilly version of wheel of fortune 🤷‍♂️

Loll!! Yes, the wheel is hillbilly, but the other parts were redneck engineered! thanks =)

yea sorry. MT is for ""Maschinen Tractate'' an old book of drawings/descriptions of failed designs Johann Bessler (Orffyre) tried before inventing a self-turn wheel in 1712. orka.bibliothek.uni-kassel.de/viewer/image/1345798641226/15/

@@griper00 He built and displayed several wheels but hid the working parts. One in Weisenstein Kassel Germany turned 26 rpm for 54 days (11/12/1717- 1/4/1718) Apparently, there was rumors of fraud, but dozens of high-ranking officials witnessed, signed, and stated that it turned on its own and no fraud could be detected. orffyreuscodes.com/who-was-orffyreus

I know you trying to replicate some old design of some perpetual motion machine, but i sure hope you don't expect it to ever work lol, there exists such a thing as the law of the preservation of energy stating energy can neither be created nor destroyed, i mean if you just wanna make a cool thingy that doesn't do anything except for look cool, all the power to you (pun intended)

you are right, there's no guarantees! so far, only mere curios that don't do anything! =) Often wondered about conservation of energy. If that law applies to closed systems with no external energy supply, and if, he somehow arranged for one side to always be heavier, then gravity was his external energy supply. right? thanks en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conservation_of_energy#First_law_of_thermodynamics

@@lindaellison899 sorry but that isnt how gravity works, the center of mass of the entire system is going to settle at the lowest point requiring energy input to move it back up, also friction and noise is wasted energy

@@lindaellison899 Gravity is a force, but not energy. For a mass to have potential energy using the force of gravity, It is necessary to apply energy to the mass, against the force of gravity. That potential energy comes not from gravity, but from the lifting energy that was applied against the gravity. Your muscles burn calories from the food you ate to raise a mass away from the force of gravity. Now that mass is storing a large portion of the energy from those calories from the food you ate. Calories are units of energy. A calorie is the amount of energy required to raise the temperature of one cubic centimeter (one milliliter) of water by one degree Celsius. That calorie could be drawn from sunshine, or from the combustion of wood, or from your own body heat, or the ambient air temperature, etc. Or it could come from solar energy that was captured by plants billions of years ago, and stored as organic material which then decomposed under pressure and condensed into oil, which can be burned to release heat from the sun which has been stored as potential energy for billions of years. With enough of those ancient calories, water could be turned to steam to drive a turbine or a piston, to lift a mass away from a force of gravity, and store some of that ancient sunshine as potential energy, until it is released as kinetic energy and imparts some of that energy in the form of an impact which will use that ancient energy to distort, reshape, break apart, crush, matter by hitting or being hit. Gravity is a force that can be used to store energy or release energy,, but it does not supply energy.

hi Josh, thankyou for your help. yes, friction and noise takes away, and center of mass settles at bottom. i could be wrong, but if Bessler had pendulums swinging to shift weight/mass closer to and further from axle, wouldn't that be like windmills, water wheels, or seesaw where there's more ''force/energy/gravity on one side? thanks
@lindaellison899

hi David, thanks for explaining force/energy, potential/stored/released/changed & etc. im not much of a scholar, but what you say makes good sense. I suppose i was wrong in calling gravity an energy rather than a force. I was kinda seeing gravity as rain falling on a wheel where one side of the wheel constantly collected more water than the opposite side, then it would obviously continue turning in that direction as long as it keeps raining right? And if the weight of the water is heavier on the falling side, would that be called gravity force, or gravity energy? Then, would a waterwheel be subjected to the conservation of energy law? If Yes, then it is in direct violation, right? if No, then it uses an outside source, right? So then, if, Bessler managed to keep more weight/mass/force on one side of wheel, what would it be called? thanks

I think you would better served with less energy loss thru use of a one way bearing over the ratcheting pawl.
