In this video I finally conquer Mt Jefferson in the Presidential Range, NH. This is #7 for my NH Winter 48 challenge! It's known for being the hardest to reach in this mountain range due to It's distance from tree line, ominous weather and many false summits. It felt great to get it on a bluebird day with many fellow hikers out and about enjoying the mountains!

That camera battery is pretty hearty. I can’t get my cellphone to last much longer than three or four hours. My coworker knows Fred and has been telling stories about their hiking adventures for awhile. He was floored to see Fred randomly on your video. Dig the KZfaq handle. That’s awesome, small world! I knew Fred was a legend :) I use heat packs to keep my cellphone warm and I also use a battery pack because it dies when I’m on super cold hikes quite fast! Haha Thanks for watching!

Looks like a great hike! Thanks for sharing, very much enjoyed. Do you have any tips to get back in shape to hike a 4,000 footer? I haven’t done one since November of 2021 😬

Thanks for watching! I’m glad you enjoyed it! This is a great question and I think there is more than one right answer.. I am not a fitness expert by any means and do things to try and strengthen my weak areas as well still myself. But I think strengthening your core is very important number one. I’ve read about stabilizer muscles being vital as well with balancing or resistance bands.. Cardio of course starting with less and building up.. And stairs with added weight gradually or step ups that require higher stepping and building your range of motion and flexibility. But again - hiking smaller and shorter hikes building up to the longer steeper more strenuous ones are going to give you these things as well. 🫶🏻 Doing everything gradually is safer of course! I tend to push myself and it can be very detrimental of course. Whatever you do, making sure to eat and drink enough is soooo important. There have been moments I thought I was getting mild Rabdo in the past and dehydration and pushing myself too hard were the culprit. 💗 Stay safe!
