In this video I make my second attempt at the Mt Monroe summit with my hiking buddy Tyler and his dog Loki. Thankfully for us the weather was perfect and we all summited successfully! Though the wind on the way down was a bit strong we were able to get down below it to treeline just fine for some relief. The weather in this mountain range is no joke and thought it’s not the Swiss Alps, the changing weather makes this mountain range very unpredictable
and dangerous. There are signs posted all over the range warning hikers to turn around at the first sign of bad weather.
I am an avid solo hiker, but since these exposed summits have these factors I prefer to do them with another person, or at least on a busy day.
Thank you for watching this video!
Please don’t attempt any hike especially in winter without proper gear, water, food, equipment etc.

You always have such beautiful weather! How do you do it? LOL! Seriously, your warnings on turning around in the face of bad weather are appreciated! "The summit is an option, going home is not..."

Well I try to time my hikes for good weather, but I’ve been in some decently poor weather too lol! A few previous videos show some strong winds and poor visibility.. I’ve been super thankful for the good days I got though! They make up for the repeat hikes to reach the top. 💗 Thanks for watching ☺️

Thanks 😊 A quick one.. I have a hard time getting footage when I’m not solo 😬 lol

@@AmandaDouin yea I tend to take more footage when solo as well, though it's much easier filming other people to get the hiking vibes vs. setting up a tripod and what not.

@@AmandaDouin also tough when it gets strenuous and you want to get a good shot and have to be like "hey gang lemme run up and setup the tripod so we can walk past" or whatever lol I feel bad. most of my friends have been pretty receptive but I still feel awkward sometimes.

That is such a true scenario lol! That’s why I can’t do it haha. I’d rather be solo trying to get those interesting angles. 😅

Nice job!! Wow...when does the snow melt there...? How much would you say is on the mountain on average (depth)?
@AmandaDouin
@AmandaDouin Жыл бұрын
I’d say about 5 ft on average with deeper areas with drifting. 👍🏻 I’ve personally seen many places the snow reaches up to the trail blazes on trees. I’ve heard others speak of drifting as deep as they are tall.. not sure how tall exactly lol.

@Alpine Amanda Interesting, that is serious snow. Probably doesn't melt well into April or even May. Thanks for information.
