This year I had the opportunity to share this adventure with my son Bobby. His first ascent of Mt. Washington.
The weather was much more favorable than it had been on previous hikes. It was another memorable hike.

So cool!! I’ve been thinking about doing a winter trek up Mount Washington 😍 When I mentioned it to a hiking buddy the other day he seemed to think I was joking 😆 Thanks for sharing!!

Do you know if I would be able to pull a pulk/sled. From Pinkham notch visitors center to Harvard cabin. Or is it too steep.

If I hike in March like in two weeks do I need an ice axe ?

You probably would yes. There's about 4-5 feet of snowpack on the trails in the upper elevations. It will take quite a bit of rain and warm weather before it is gone. This is a very steep trail. So even if you're not actively using the ice axe, you need it for self arrest if you fall.

Apparently she wasn't intending on using it. She's as experienced as they come. She has summited Chimborazo in Ecuador which is over 20,000 ft and several other high peaks. I think she's very well versed on how to use it.
