Coming from the gen 2 Mt 09 I took one look at the gen 3 and thought nah don’t like it, but after a test ride I walked away with a gen 3 SP. No regrets, looks are best described as Marmite but a genuine fly screen is a nice addition to the front end.

The change in the frame geometry is the game changer for this new gen. Suspension is still, err, budget but at least you have a good starting point for mods. Oh, those front indicators, someone at yamaha should be executed for that, even at dealers you see them hanging out. Hard to beat for value for money, what an engine 😆

Just picked up the mt09.... Awesome machine, can't stay off of it....

Mt09 over the previous gen Mt10 for me I did not try the new gen 10.

Hi! Im in process to decide, which one to buy... Can you tell me how is with the wind aerodynamic compared to mt10? I rode 10, and up to 190km, I didn't feel any resistance at all, and helmet was quite, no buffetin orbany other windb problem.

I bought a new gen '21 (non-sp) mt09 about 6 months ago. There are some really cheap, cheesy parts. Front blinkers fall off, I finally replaced with TST. Rear brake pedal a flimsy joke. While I agree it's more stable than last gen mt09, I had one, new one has absolutely the cheapest rear shock I've literally even seen on a road bike. The little toggle wheel on the controls feels like a cheap Chinese toy, pretty pathetic. New stability is do to radically changed geometry on new gen, believe me....they didn't spend much money on non sp new gen mt09 suspension. I found a screaming deal on a blue '18 mt10 a few weeks back. I bought it. Yes, it GUZZLES gas but omg is that cp4 intoxicating! The great thing is they put quality suspension on the big mt from the start, better quality everything actually. Don't get me wrong, there are many things that have been improved on the mt09 but the non SP model is really hampered by some severe cost cutting measures.
