-The Staten Island Railway is a rapid transit line in the New York City borough of Staten Island. SIR operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, providing local service between St. George and Tottenville. During AM Rush Hours The SIR Runs nonstop Express from New Dorp to St. George Ferry. Then during PM Rush Hours The SIR Runs nonstop Express from St.George Ferry to Great Kills then it makes all local Stops to Tottenville all Local SIR Trains run and End at Great Kills along the island's east side. It is the only line on the island - no direct rail link between the SIR and the New York City Subway system.

I think it's really sad that in well over 100 years NYC hasn't constructed a tunnel or bridge to where the trains could have access to the other borroughs.

You Cannot Exit the Station Unless You Pay with MetroCard and OMNY There's no other way to not Pay the Fare

Great Question it is because to accommodate this fare collection system, the turnstiles at Staten Island Railway stations for St George and Tompkinsville are often designed differently from those at other subway stations. Instead of allowing entry only with a swipe of a MetroCard or OMNY, the turnstiles may allow both entry and exit without requiring passengers to swipe a Metrocard or OMNY. This setup is intended to facilitate the purchase and validation before boarding the train or Exiting the System to access the Buses and the Staten Island Ferry toward Manhattan also All the Other SIR Stations From Stapleton to Tottenville have No Turnstiles It is Free around those Stations

You have to pay to get in or out of the stations they said in their reply and in return every other station has free entry
