I think I lean more towards a collector but perhaps at a budget level, not a fan of the collectors pack, and as such I will probably just be getting 2 draft boxes. one to crack for fun and maybe make use of pulls and the other to save for a potential future draft with friends. I cant see much more in this product to warrant many more boxes let alone to open.

Cool, did you play when the sets were originally released? After seeing the cards, I think we have lost of them and unless it was specifically to just enjoy as draft with friends, the set will mostly be a skip for us. 😉 I hope you get some great pulls and a lot of fun from the draft boxes. 😉

@@CardboardGuide I had already been on break from mtg at the time ravnica released but I got back in with the last guilds block. Agree, I'm not super enthusiastic about this product, especially when there are other great games available. I may end up with just one Ravnica remastered box and one sorcery box, lol.

Love this channel btw and I agree - shocklands are the main draw to ravnica remastered - great - wow - mmm. Ho hum. For me, already have shocklands. Buy a set to chase cards i have that are only pulling down the value of those i have? Nope ill pass on this and on the clue (lol) set. Sorcery is looking good...

I was so pumped for this set, cos I keep finding myself using ravnica cards in my commander decks as great little odd ball cards. Annnnd then I saw the card lists and was really disappointed in what was chosen. Especially given the way they've *upshifted* the rarity of a lot of the good cards. What's the point in a reprint set that's harder to get the classic cards than the original sets?

Yeah, I think the cards are mostly chosen for some easy to draft archetypes. What cards were you hoping to see that didn’t show up in the set? There are a lot of cards that are fun and flavorful, and great little addition to a deck.

I am concerned and buying from right from the get go might turn out to be a really “feels bad” situation. I have noticed that it looks like the preorders are going very, very slowly post the quick accidental Amazon dump. Thanks you for checking out the video, we really appreciate the comment.

I'll be buying draft boxes when they are over printed and selling for around 100.00. I'm not falling for the same thing as I did with Dominaria remastered. I'm so glad Sorcery came out when it did.

I understand the sentiment, the only catch is if a product really has a tight print run, then suddenly prices could, unexpectedly, go up. I think the likelihood of that happening is very small, since they can’t seem to get the print run right. Yeah, we love playing MTG, but the current direction, and especially with all the people getting fired. Sorcery has been a great experience so far and we really have been enjoying all aspects of the game. 🙌🏻

My LGS has sold (Pré sales) exactly "1" collector box of their stock! And is wasn't ME.... No loose packs of either and NO Draft Box ! And the set has been o the site for a couple of days now! So there is NOT much/any demand for it. Going for a few singles and allready have plenty of Shock lands. Am concidering to get myself a serialised Birds of Paradise, that is one of my "💝" cards! We are definitely committed to the game, we play often and as the kids get older they are also interested in playing. However, the release cadence and the current direction is not optimal. Collector boxes and booster fun has made everything feel less special and significant when you pull it, and the Collector boxes always holding the chase cards in the set puts a lot of pressure on the draft boxes (and the play booster seems like a fix, but also a price jump) as they are also getting expensive. They are! We really both love the retro frame as well, but the box prices vs. the value...*yikes* The increase on pricing and the price jump on Murders at Karlov Manor feels pretty stark, especially when WoTC are out there firing people. Thanks for checking out the video!

@CardboardGuide oh yeah. My big brother and his friends have been playing since day 1. I was barely able to read, just memorizing the interactions when i started. Maintained interest until high school. Was walking round the mall when i saw a game shop holding a lorwyn prerelease. Bought a deck and 2 packs and started building a huge collection completely through winning packs in events. I was lucky to get 10 bucks a week, so the tourniments for me were my only option to get packs. Now, im running a singles business from home while I do my best to raise my 2 amazing children, while mom works full time. I'm thinking about dipping my toes into the world of cardboard rectangles on youtube here in the next year or so. And it's been my dream, ever since my first trip to the card shop with my brother when i was but a child, to open a game shop of my own.

The set is missing some of the best ravnica cards . Where is smothering tithe and assassins trophy? They used the worst version of Aurelia and left out bolas citadel. I was going to get a box but now I will try pick up some shocklands.

Hi there! For sure, we were also sure we would see some of those cards, especially since Ravnica blocks are not known for their value, outside of the Shocklands, so we had though we would see at least Assassin's Trophy. I agree on the Aurelia, and overall with Murders at Karlov Manor coming right after with another version of both Aurelia, Massacre Girl, Krenko, and several others, it feels like it might get a little repetitive.

When it comes to reprints there's no winning. Stores don't want new copies because it devalues their Inventory. Players want reprints so cards are actually affordable. But it's impossible to print exactly enough to demand to satisfy everyone. At least promo and new arts tend to hold value more than a strict reprint of old art, but for a set where all the art isn't even new there's little point to the Set then.

I think they managed their reprint better previously, or at least found a better balance. I think reprints are necessary, we want players to have access to cards, but I think timing has been a huge issue this year, printing the same reprints in back to back sets doesn't work well. I think Ravnica Remastered feels like it might be a fun draft experience, but there is little to nothing to recommend buying actual boxes, rather then simply picking up the very few singles we find interesting.

the land cards look pretty cool !! Regardless, I have stopped buying MTG cards indefinitely. I have come to realized that when someone pulls a very expensive cards, most likely he/she would have wasted a lot of money on prev sets. So I don't envy them...

Understandable. I think we sometimes forget to say it, but we actually play a lot of Magic and enjoy the game. But the release pace and constant reprints have been a miss for us, and next years sets look like they will be a miss from a flavor/set perspective, even though we might be surprised, so Wild of Eldraine was the last set we opened, and we probably won't be buying anything for a while now.

Great breakdown. Personally, I hope this product fails hard. The overprinting of staples was good for a while but now it's just destroying the secondary market.

Thank for checking out the video! I also think the reprints are of course necessary from time to time. However, the way that they use them (stuff like reprinting the same card in back to back sets), and the amount they are printing at the moment is drowning the market.

@@SolidFoxHoundSF As long as the staples are already pretty affordable printing them again seems less useful. Especially, if they expect people to want to buy booster boxes to open, so other people can buy singles.

@@herald9204 We have never used MtG as an investment tool, and we are players. But I would still rather some of the money in this game went to other players, from holding valuable cards, than everything goes to WotC/Hasbro from selling secret lairs, making extra reprints, endless sets, and variants. If cards have at least some value, that means that the community can trade and have some cards of value, rather than WotC scooping everything up.

@@CardboardGuide hate them. Just takes away from the benefit of getting set boosters for us who just want mythics and rares. Plainly benefits drafters and hurts constructed players.

@@MrChoco409heavy disagree, but to each their own. Play boosters will save Draft, the only format that isn’t pay-to-win, and also simplify the booster pack system for all players. If you just want rares and mythics, then you should just be buying singles anyway.
