They stopped printing Set Boosters because they wanted to lower the products offered to avoid confusion. Not even a whole year from the change and they announce Value Boosters? Make it make sense man. With no clear MSRP I see store's trying to sell this for about $3.50 to $4.50, but if a play booster is just $5.50 then why even buy Value boosters? They don't even guarantee a rare card. On the other hand Bloomburrow making many cards exclusive to collector boosters has to be the greediest move ever. I understand having alternative arts exclusive to the Collector Boosters but making the Critter Planeswalkers exclusive is greedy and scummy.

@@MrJustintreat which would be a good thing. considering how hyped up people are for bloomburrow, it's unlikely retailers are going to be able to keep the normal play boosters on the shelves. "investors" are just going to sweep everything up on opening day. there won't be a chance for kids or their parents to buy any bloomburrow products other than these value boosters because speculators see these boosters as worthless. This is WOTC's most promising set in bringing in a younger audience. They need a product that speculators won't touch so that new kids have a chance at interacting with magic. It's why it's only being sold in the large retailers like walmart and target and not being pushed in game stores.

WOTC must be envious of Konami's ability to lose money on sealed product. Incidentally, I'm sticking with my belief that the AC set is supposed to bring MTG players into AC, not bring AC players into MTG. It's not a coincidence that this came out at the same time as Ubisoft are doing a massive marketing push for their new games-as-live-service AC platform. Like, there's no way WOTC, when thinking about profitable brands for Universes Beyond, chose Assassin's Creed. Ubisoft 100% approached WOTC and said "What do we need to give you for you to make this advert for us?"

You'd think after Pinkerton , that they'd try their hardest not to alienate us further and then they release: - Meagre Boosters that fail miserably + Some normal sets - A Lootbox Gambling set + Some good Commander decks ( but they're brand deal crossovers :/ ) - A set that is meh + A good set - A set that just sucks - A set with the Meagre boosters stuffed into it (A Lootbox Gambling set, albeit not as ridiculous as LOTR) - A set that is absolute powercreep, that pushes the wrong format too hard and releases precons in that format, instead of the format it was made for - A crossover set that only has meagre boosters + The Foundations Announcement (at least one good thing to look forward to) - This meagrest Booster Announcement... Someone is doing something wrong at Hasbro, but the shareholders are happy as long as they get their greed fix ofc.

they hiked the price of draft boosters to $6-7 so they could introduce boosters with fewer cards and charge what they were charging for draft boosters previously. it was just part of their big price hike, no one benefits from this but wotc and hasbro.

When I open a box of each set to play sealed with my brother you can see that the packs will have the same exact 5-6 cards in the same exact order. Idk how the printing and mixing process works but it’s lazy.

Also getting ridding of the commons in a pack, makes the commons more rare for one, and for two, sometimes commons are good cards, and can fill a vital role in your decks, commons shouldn't be treated like they're dirty or something.

Ok, so I’ve been thinking about these value boosters and I have a theory involving draft boosters: WotC took down draft boosters because they wanted to sell this trash without making it affordable. There is no way value boosters would be bought in a world where draft boosters existed. As mediocre as they were, they were objectively better than value boosters.

I would have been okay with beyond boosters if there were 36 packs to a box for the $110 that I paid. I don't particularly care about cutting off the commons. Cutting the packs down was a big problem though.

Well shit, Mike, you just gave Hasbro their Q2 2025 product lineup: Hatcher Boosters (36 cards per box): "Because the players demanded it, we're returning to 36 booster packs per box!"* *Product details: 1 card per pack, up to 1 in 15 packs may contain a card of any rarity level rare or higher. Pack may instead contain a foil of any rarity but most likely an ad card, art card, or token.

I don't really see the issue since they're only going to be sold in retail stores like walmart and target. them being unappealing to speculators/investors guarantees they'll be on the store shelves for kids to get instead of adults who tend to clean out the shelves before kids even get a chance to see what's there.

as a dad of 6 & 8-year-old kids, my experience has always been my kids opening the pack I get from Commander Night. They only care about the art. A card may go in their collection or be used for art. I appreciate cheaper packs with more cards.

@@Blackadder75 they are not magic players, but still consume products because parents or others want to show them that world. Most magic players discard the majority of a booster pack-nothing they want it’s left on the table at the end of the night. My kids will spend more time looking at the cards in a booster pack than a magic player will. They will get excited over 5-6 cards they want to keep. I suspect with bloomburrow it will be more. That’s why I like the idea of cheaper booster packs with more cards. It’s for a different demographic.

No, but they've never printed so little value per pack (initially) in the history if the game. Even lousy sets that hit $1.00 a pack were worth at least that in value.

Was thinking these were slightly better gravity packs targeted at grandparents shopping at Target or Walmart; I don’t think they’ll be in any LGS or even Amazon. If it’s $1-$2 a pack I can see Gramama picking up a few for a stocking stuffer or something and, while the EV is gonna stink, it’s just a small gesture which pretty much won’t affect enfranchised players.

Honestly, I could care less about commons. They are useful in Draft and sometimes Standard. So, why would I want to add to my stack of commons? I think the packs were overpriced at release, but the box prices now seem pretty reasonable.

WOTC has tried to sell us 7 card packs at $9USD MULTIPLE times, and wont stop trying. Aftermath, OTJ (they had a set planned), Assassin Creed, and now the Bloomburrow "Value" pack (Prob won't be $9, but still a crap 7 card pack) WOTC just wants double MSRP for half the amount of product. 1000000000000% shareholder greed at play.

Looking forward to getting near mint bulk when these go on deep clearance sales Black Friday 2025. It is pretty sad though that this will probably be a really popular gift from Grandmas during the holidays this year.

Shame they can keep trying to skim off the top with the mini boosters, with the concept of being able to get some bulk commons and uncommons maybe a few rares... we used to have Tournament Packs that were these 75 card booster packs that cost a bit more than a normal pack but were generally a decent value, and gave you a box to keep a deck in.

I opened 2 boosters I got at MagicCon Amsterdam, and both had doubles in it! On top of that one of those stupid play cards and one of the art cards which are trash.
