The snow removal extended thing but it’s not even close to how broken some of the MONO green cards were around 2019. Like besides shit like Uro, Oko, escape into the wilds, Growth spiral, emergent ultimatum Wilderness reclamation, Nissa, veil of summer, Questing and love struck beast, Once upon a time, Ram through in Ikoria. It’s insane how green broke the game in this time period.

The issue with scrap shooter in Commander is that it only triggers if cast, not any ETB. So it doesn’t work if reanimated, cheated into play, or most importantly blinked. Reclamation sage is better for more than just creature type.

For Caregiver's Talent, notice you can trigger it again OUTSIDE your turn. I can trigger Tocasia's Welcome and Welcoming Vampire on every turn in my Kambal EDH deck and this is on the same level as them in terms of card draw, but then it actually gives me a combat anthemn and a copy of some chunkier token? This card is crazy.

The Raccoon's even better in Commander, imho, since you don't have to promise the gift to the person whose thing you're blowing up. "Okay, I can blow up Bob's [Blank], and give you a card, but you have to do X. Deal?" As to Caregiver's Talent, a part of me wants to make a Selesnya deck now, just for the mid to late game potential of massive card draw off of a suicidal Goldvein Hydra. Cruelclaw's Heist, and Cruelclaw himself are probably both great in Rakdos Outlaws, too.

Unfortunately I don't think the goldvein hydra plan works--caregivers talent gives you a card when one OR MORE tokens enter, and the treasures from goldvein all enter at the same time, so you just get one card off them and not a card for each treasure.

So as far as all of the cards we have seen, in my opinion it strongly seems like bats are going to be the best tribal overall, and will definently see play even after bloomburrow dust settles. Which sucks because ive been preparing and building pieces around green/white tokens for rabbits lol. But who knows ill try and keep my hopes up that tokens will finally be viable this time around 😆

Azure Beastbinder seems especially solid as a hate card for planeswalkers. It’s hard to block, so it’s good at chipping in damage, AND it disables loyalty abilities, meaning it can prevent a planeswalker from gaining loyalty. Unfortunately it’s pretty bad at hating on The One Ring, because they just activate in response, and now they get the card draw without the burden damage

Question, after re-reading the Gift effect, the Gift effect goes onto the stack, and after that effect resolves, the second effect triggers. Will this allow players to counter the 2nd effect with Counterspell? Or would it only be counterable with stifle-based effects?

The gift-mechanic is basically: choose between 2 modes-> the gift-mode and the non-gift mode. Gift itself doesn't go on the stack, you choose to use the gift-mode while casting the spell

I think Spellgyre was worth discussing instead of relegating it to "Draft Chaff". The card draw mode is close to on-rate by itself, and it can be a +1mana Cancel if required as well.

So the Commander element to Cruelclaw Heist that the person you're stealing from does NOT need to be the person promised a gift, makes it so you can steal from the rich while giving to the poor as it were, he might not be Robin Hood, but he can damn well make the impression Gift also has massive political play potential for a lot of these, because the Gift is not given unless the spell resolves, so you can entice people into not countering you, or even protecting your plays possibly, by promising gifts

Surely Cruelclaw's Heist is in the main deck of ANY deck that can manage the color requirements. I don't know how many you can fit, but surely some number. This card does such a good job of mitigating the downside of discard spells, in that you're taking cards out of their hand but not progressing your board. This let's you take away their best card then turn around and use it. People are going to be even more scared of sandbagging a valuable card like an Atraxa or a Sheoldred for fear that you take it and use it against them.

I think it's bad. To get the cast you have to let them draw a card, so you're spending a card & your turn to take their best card but you're also replacing that card. Then sure you can cast that card but you still have to spend the mana & it probably doesn't work as well in your deck as it would have worked in there's. The tempo hit seems way too nasty for 60 card competitive.

Cruelclaw's Heist doesn't *really* Thoughtseize the top card of their deck - as once they've drawn that card (creating the set of cards you can discard from), they have a new card on top. The whole pain of not being able to Thoughtseize the top card is more about it not being able to do anything to prevent lucky topdecks (like the "Thoughtseize bug", where players always seem to draw the card that was Thoughtseized away).

I feel like green needs some new staple mechanics introduced, it's getting a lot of good cards right now but almost all of them just come down to making big creatures really quickly, which although is "classic" green, it's also incredibly one dimensional.

Its a 3 mana 4/4 with Reach which is pretty above rate, and its a good main deck artifact and enchantment hate card since if you dont have a good target you dont give them the card

Azure Beastbinder turns artifacts, and planeswalkers into 2/2 creatures. It also shuts off all their abilities. Turning difficult to interact with card types into a very killable 2/2 creature is low-key really good? Turning off 3feri/pithing needle/chalice of the void or any other hate card is also really, really good?

It doesn't turn those into creatures, it just turns off their abilities. If it targets a creature it turns it into a 2/2, but artifacts and planeswalkers just lose their abilities while still staying as artifacts or planeswalkers.
